I bought what I thought was a waterproof jacket last season only to find out it had troubles keeping water out of the seams. This Kuhl jacket, though pricey, is so worth it. It's light so it doesn't make you hot when the rain brings the muggy with it, but it allows for layers underneath if you want to bundle up a little more. Also it's cuuuute. I'm usually a size 4ish and I got the small--fits great. Also: THE HOOD STAYS ON! So many rain coats I've bought have a finicky hood that I have to hold in order for it to stay up. This one is (as it should!) stays up as I walk out of sheer good construction and design. Miraculous really.
I am 5'8" and 115 pounds. The small fits perfectly even with a sweater and shirt underneath and I am thrilled with this super well-designed fashionable waterproof raincoat. Yes, the zipper is a little tricky but so far so good and I have arthritis in my hands so it needs to be okay. I realize these are the waterproof zippers. The hood has three adjusting elastic strings so it stays on! My only warning would be to pull gently on the hood adjusting string in the front because the bottom part of it is held in a little hole only by a small knot. I pulled it all the way out and had to shove it back in carefully. Just pull on the top part.
Bought this jacket about a month ago. I wear a size 4, however, the small was too tight if I wore any standard clothing under it (long sleeve T-shirt or very lightweight fleece, light weight hiking pants). I exchanged it for a medium, which feels a little large, but the waist can be adjusted, and I can comfortably wear a pullover under it. The sleeves are too long, but I just fold them under. I have only worn it once in a light rainfall & it worked well. The zipper is a little difficult sometimes, but I very much like the slim styling, the extra length, the lightness, and the easy packability.
Bought this jacket for our Europe trip in the spring. It was perfect! Love that it's lightweight, comfortable, stretchy, and easy to pack in the suitcase & backpack for the day trips. Definitely recommend.
I am so happy with this rain jacket! I picked this up for a trip to Iceland, and it didn't disappoint. First of all, I got so many compliments on the style...it's perfect to wear around the city. There's a drawstring waist so it ends up being very figure flattering. Next, the water resistance. The first day I received this jacket, I took a 20 minute walk in a heavy rain, and stayed completely dry. When I took the coat off, I was concerned to see dark water spots on the lining. I called KUHL customer service, and they explained that this is the technology of the fabric working, and that I should hold a paper towel up to the spots to see if any water would transfer. Sure enough, it was dry. We did a lot of waterfall exploring on our trip, and hiked in behind Seljalandsfoss, and again, I stayed dry. The cuffs of the sleeve do not have water resistance, so your wrists will get wet on the underside, up to about 3 inches. I can't speak for water resistance of the jacket past a 30 minute mark, but I have a high level of confidence in the material. Wind resistance. This is a lightweight jacket, and functions well as a windbreaker. However, if it's cold you'll want to layer since it is not lined. I wore a tank, and long sleeve shirt and that was fine for the majority of my trip (40-50 degree F conditions), and I added a sweater for the glacier day/higher elevations and I was quite warm. I love the drawstring hood, you can cinch it up around your face, and the high collar will keep the water from running down your neck. This is one of my best investment pieces I've ever owned and I definitely recommend it.
I was looking for a daily street jacket that functions similar to a Northface ski jacket (blocks rain/wind, keeps me warm), that doesn't have me looking like I was going skiing. This jacket exceeded my needs. The material is extra soft, lightweight and flexible. I can easily wear it over my suit jacket, and not look bulky. It folds up to small space which is useful when packing. Get one! You will be warm without being weighted down. The down side is the sleeves were 2 inches too long for me, so I had to have them hemmed.
I walk a mile to and from work, and can easily put in a couple more miles at work walking between buildings. In Oregon, it is nice to have a longer rain jacket. However, the zipper is a beast, very "sticky" at the bottom and difficult to unzip all of the way. I almost had to step out of it the other day when it took around 5 minutes to get the zipper to work. I am giving it one more week, then may have to return it. Other than that, it is lightweight, fits nicely (does run small), and is very waterproof.
Trekked through Scotland for 5 weeks with this jacket and love everything about it with the exception of the zipper! It stuck at the bottom and I had to step into it for the final two weeks of the trip. Rather irritating to say the least. Hopefully they will redesign the zipper then I can buy another. This one is on the way back. Oh 3 of my friends bought one as well ( based on my recommendation ) and a couple of them have issue with the zipper as well.
I’ve been rained upon, harassed by the wind and gotten rave reviews. Stayed dry too. Love the way it can be cinched in at the waist.
This jacket looks great but it runs small. I am typically a size 4 or 6 depending on the brand, so I ordered a size Small, as per the chart. When I put it on I felt like a sausage! It barely fits through the hips and I am not a "curvy" gal. It didn't bind, but it is quite snug (nothing like the photo) though okay through the shoulders. I will be exchanging for a medium once I figure out how to do so with a gift.
