Great Light

Used this light on an eleven day 490 mile ride across Virginia in May 2017. Found cars changing to the left lane hundreds of yards behind me. Incredibly bright, really like the added security it gives.

There's a BIG problem with this light, that really stops it from being useful: The USB charging port is on the BOTTOM of the light, and the rubber thingamagic used to cover it up can often time be hard to get on, or come off on its own. When this happens, oftentimes water will seep in, and short circuit the exposed electronics board inside the light itself (you can see the internals through the port, itself! Once this happens, forget it, the light won't work well. Sometimes it can't be turned on, sometimes it can't be turned off. Quick fix: dose it in alchohol, let it dry by its own, then cover it in rice overnight. Afterwards, shake the light to get all the rice that's inside, out! Runtime is more like 3 hours at the less than high setting, so be aware. I actually don't know how to turn off the light, once it's on. It's not very intuitive - clicking the one button just seems to cycle through the different settings, but it's a guess to me what incantation turns things off. The attachment point is nice - nicer than most lights.

great quality bike light

Have had this for about 6 months now and use regularly for commuting. Really like the different flashing modes which was an important feature to accommodate different riding conditions. A key feature for me is the little barb at the bottom of the clip. I have lost 3 other lights that got jostled loose over rough roads. I was using the post mount - which works great, but a change in saddlebags meant switching to using just the light and attached clip onto a strap on the saddlebag. That little barb makes all the difference.

Simple yet effective

The light is bright and helps to make sure you're seen. The operation is simple and the functions can be adjusted without having to look at the light (while peddling depending on your installation). The light just cycles from off, through its modes back to off. This isn't as fancy (complicated) as some others which can be convenient. The light has a clip on the back allowing it to be attached to the back of a saddle back with a strap or onto a belt. This is how mine is mounted (under-seat saddlebag) and it has held thus far. The low battery indicator is a nifty feature that I have not yet put to the test.

Not As Good As Original

When a new version of a great product appears, you expect it to be better than the original. I had the original Solas Rear Bike Light and loved it. An errant rock cracked the red housing, making me seek a replacement, so I got the Solas 100. Yes, it is probably brighter than my old model, but without the old one to compare against, I'll never know. My one complaint is how quickly the battery depletes on the new model. With the original, I was getting maybe 4 or 5 rides, at an average of 3 hours each, out of a full charge, with the flash on the brightest setting. Now, I need to recharge after every other ride, same average ride time, with the light on the next to brightest setting. I do not want to go any lower on the brightness settings as I want / need to maintain maximum visibility. Other than the run-time problem, I love this light, so I'm putting this as a middle rating. If you can live with the shorter run-time, this a great rear safety light.

Best tail light I have owned, except for the mount

I am a car free bike commuter, so it is extremely important that I have a tail light that I can be seen from afar. This light accomplished that task. The rubber part that goes around the seat post is extremely sturdy. The problem with this light is that it pops out of the mount too easily. It has popped out in the middle of an intersection twice and I have only owned it for a month. This is problematic, especially considering the price. I am taking it back this week. If they ever perfect the mount so that the light will stay in it, I would buy again. Otherwise, I suggest ignoring this light.

Affordable and awesome!

Got this when REI had a sale for $29. I just started riding, and I was easily seen and felt completely safe on the road. Great buy, so far charges well and was super easy to install and use.

Great light!

I purchased this light months ago as part of a combo with the Lumina 950 Boost, and do a fair amount of night riding. I run this light too and from the trail head, as I ride from my house on a combo of road and bike path to reach the trail. This light is amazingly bright, and the multiple modes are a bonus. I have had several tail lights over the years, this one is by far the best one yet.

Great light power; flimsy and weak recharging port

I've had three Solas 100 lights the past few years. I LIKE the power and visibility of the light options. However, the Mini-USB port is made of a flimsy thin metal that quickly distorts and wears, making it almost impossible after a few months of use to maintain a constant contact for a full recharge when the charging cord is plugged in. Same problem on all three devices bought over a few years. The Solas 100 would be a GREAT product if it had a more substantial charging port that could hold up to frequent plugging in of a cord.
