Holy warmth and comfort

I’ve been wearing for a few years now and hike a lot in the white mountains of NH winter. These boots are toasty on the feet. Sometimes a little too much. I tend to wear a thinner sock if it’s above 0. My first pair last amazing for the amount I hike and was very pleased. So I bought a new pair. They had a Seem defect about 11 months in and not wearing to much. I reach out at they credited me for the boot. The company is outstanding and so are the boots.

So light and warm

Bought these for a winter trip to Finland, but trip got cancelled. However, found they are superb for my normally cold feet and have warn them for daily cold and muddy walks in UK winter. The size was good (UK6) and same comfy fit as my other Salomon walking boots. They are much lighter in weight than I anticipated and love the soft furry feel. They hardly took any wearing in. They are waterproof and did use them in snow and down to -8 degrees Celsius so far. (my feet were happily glowing) I was worried whether I would be able to use them for fat-biking in the snow or not, but as they are light and not too bulky I think they would be fine. Looking forward to using them in Finland in the future!

The best winter hiking boot ever!!

I am an avid hiker and have worn these boots to run, hike and snowshoe in. I have put many miles and some hard trails into these boots. I use to hate being out in the winter and was constantly complaining about cold toes, not anymore!!! When I first bought the boots, I was cringing at the price tag, but now I think they are worth every penny. These boots are toasty warm and so comfortable that I went out and bought another pair! I strongly recommend them and have told all my hiking friends about them! Now if I could only find an 3 season boot that I love as much as these winter ones. (Salomon has not been able to produce one I like yet).

Warm, dry and comfortable

I’ve had the Toundra pros for close to 20 years and they are THE only boots to keep my toes warm. I’ve had other brands but none compare to these ones. I use them snowshoeing, and hiking in the mountains all the time. Or, for when I’m working an event and I know I’ll be standing around a lot with little movement. There’s very little cold that comes up from the sole of the foot. Toes are not squished together and amazing support in the heel cup. I’m a heavy pronator and the heel cup nor the sole have broken down. The only negative I can see with the new ones are the colour. Black is boring. Really boring. My pant leg and/or gaiters will cover up any colour accent on.

Great winter boot!

My wife loves these boots! I've had the men's version for a few years and she finally bought hers earlier this winter. She uses them here in Alaska for winter biking, hiking, and backpacking. Though I would agree that these boots might fit wide feet, both she and I have fairly narrow feet and these boots work great. The lacing system tightens up nicely around the ankle yet there's plenty of toe room. We've used them on winter backpack trips with snowshoes and micro-spikes. We also use other models of Salomon hiking boots is the summer. I would rate these as less stiff than say a Salomon Quest 3 or 4d but certainly stiffer that a running shoe or super-lighweight boot model.

Super warm and comfy!

I haven't tried them down to 40 below, but at 20 degrees they were super warm! I learned from experience that anything over that and they are far too warm. The first test of them was a birding trip where the weather happened to be a blizzard. We stood around on open windy beach looking at winter sea ducks and I was toasty. Everyone around me was stomping their feet to keep warm but mine didn't even feel a chill. They also preform well on wet surfaces. I didn't slide around on mucky tiles when my trip stopped for coffee. I look forward to using them for winter backpacking, though I will have to get a new pair of microspikes because they are quite bulky. As another reviewer said, they are stiff, but I didn't find it to be a problem. They feel like any other pair of winter boots I've worn. I usually wear a 7.5 or 8 and got these in a 8.5. It is enough room for thick socks and my toes to move around. My feet are wide in the toe box and these boots don't constrict at all, so they might not be great for people with narrow feet.

Good but stiff

I bought these because I needed a pair of boots with good grip. The grip is ok...nothing special. They are very warm and reasonably light. They are very stiff boots and require some breaking in. The upper is very stiff and dug into my shins a lot. I wear a thick pair of socks and a base layer to protect my shins. The size is correct. I wear a 7.5 and bought that. It fits well. Lots of room in the toe box. Very well made and I can't see any obvious potential failure points. Overall I like them a lot. Great for winter hiking. You will he warm but prepare for the stiff uppers and break in period.

PERFECT boots for cold fat bike rides

I’ve had these boots for one cooollldddd winter in Anchorage last winter (average 0-5F) for months and let me tell you, thank god I bought them! They are a little bulky looking but still look good and most importantly functional! They do get a little too warm when temps get into 20s so I bought a different pair for warmer weather. Hope this helps.

Antarctica Approved!!

Wore these boots while working at McMurdo Station in Antarctica. My feet stayed toasty warm and dry. They are also comfy enough for wearing long hours on end. I usually wear a 7.5 in casual shoes, but always go up half a size in any boot-especially with thicker wool socks needed. Size 8 worked perfect.
