I can't attest to the warmth of this jacket because it went back. Unfortunately the zipper was so finicky, I returned it. For the price, you think they could have put in a better closure system. (Many others have complained of this as well.) Also, I am very petite (5'4", 105 lbs) and found that even the XS was too large. Especially across the chest and flare at the bottom. Wish they made this in a petite size. Really wanted to love it. But given the fit and the zipper issue, returned it. Also, it's RIDICULOUS that REI doesn't include a return shipping label. It cost $26.00 and 30 minutes of my time to send this back via USPS. Please include shipping labels REI.
leaks feathers and zipper is mostly dysfunctional
I really wanted to love this jacket - light, warm, packable (I travel a lot). I wore it for an entire winter before I gave up. I wear a lot of dark colors, and this jacket ALWAYS left a hundred tiny little white feather all over my clothes (so much that people always asked what was wrong). And then there is the terrible zipper - sometimes it took me up to 10 minutes to get the zipper to "catch" so that I could zip it up. Can't tell you how many times I just gave up and walked into the cold with an open jacket - what's the point? I have the old model of this coat, which is still great and looks great (with high quality stitching and high quality zipper). Returned this one. Thank goodness for REI's great return policy.
Disappointed
I had high hopes for this parka, especially considering the good reputation that Arc’teryx has. This item was beyond disappointing. I wore this parka in 30 degree weather and I was cold!! My arms were extremely cold - something I have never experienced in any other parka. The area around the collar and bottom of parka also provided no insulation and left me very cold. The only area that was mildly warm and comfortable was the core area - only area with real down insulation. Other areas are filled with synthetic insulation - would probably work in a warmer area - definitely not in anything under 30 degree weather. Very disappointed!
The perfect winter coat for the north east!
As a relatively recent transplant from Southern California to New York staying warm in winter is a priority. I personally use a ski jacket to stay warm, but my wife wanted more style and even more warmth. I have not heard her complain about the cold since getting this jacket! She loves it. It looks great, its waterproof, its longer so it helps keep more of you warm, but the best bit is the lovely lining which makes it feel really nice and is extra toasty on a freezing day. This jacket is warmer than my ski jacket...
Always Warm
I have been wearing this coat in below zero weather and it keeps me very warm. It is super comfortable and incredibly light. I have read other reviews about the zipper not working well but I have had no problems at all and I usually struggle with zippers.
Almost Perfect Winter Jacket
I've worn this jacket for 5 winters now and it's still waterproof and warm as when i first got it. The weather where I live is rainy and cold (Winters Range from -10 to 2 degrees Celsius). On extra cold days I wear an extra 2 layers and it still fits comfortably. I bought a Large. I'm 171 cm tall and weigh 70 kg. The zipper unfortunately broke after the third winter and I got a new zipper installed last year. With a better quality zipper this jacket has been down far the best winter jacket i have ever owned.
Sleek, Warm, Fashionable
I was looking for a nice water jacket for long time, when i visited the Rei store the sale associate recommended me this brand and i instantly love it, the minimalist sleek design, the high quality materials and not at least their aproach for sustainability, the zipper works perfect and i love every single details of this jacket, length is perfect for me, purchased a sz S i am 5.3 and 118lb.
The best jacket
This is the best jacket ever!!! Extremely warm, very light and comfortable. I've tested out the jacket in the low 30s degree with very chilly windy conditions, wearing just a workout capri and sport bra, my body was very warm and body temperature remained constant. Can't wait for colder weather to come.
Good choice
Very pleased with coat. Read reviews carefully and had some concerns, but works beautifully.
