Super cute and practical!
Just rode with it for about an hour with a plain plastic water bottle. The water bottle did come out of the holder but I believe that was a fluke as I went over the curb multiple times after with no issue. I haven't bothered to put a bottle holder on my new bike as I usually just ride with my backpack on trail but this makes quick trips around the neighborhood more appealing. It works perfectly fine with a normal cycling bottle. My boyfriend immediately got jealous is getting one for his bike too.
Looks great, works great with a slight adjustment
This bottle cage adds nice attitude to any bike. It purchased the black and gold version to go on my matte khaki commuter bike. When I initially tested a bottle, it was too tight. A slight tug on both wings to open it slightly makes for a perfect fit. You can smush them back together if you go too far. I did not notice any paint/structural cracking when bending- it feels very sturdy with premium material.
Form and function
This awesome looking owl holds onto your drink bottle tight as you’re hucking up and down trails, 11/10, would buy again.
Bike Owl
This owl bottle cage was so cute, I knew I had to have one. The white one matches my road bike very nicely! It's not quite as easy to take my bottle in and out of it as a standard cage, but I'm able to do it just fine on my recreational and fun rides.
Great hold, durable and looks great
I installed 2 of these on my touring bike, but not on my road bike. I've had trouble finding units that are very light weight that don't break at the most inopportune times. I couldn't go on a multiple day road trip without a unit that would last, so I thought I'd give these a try. This product exceeded my hopes. While they do weigh a little more than plastic units, they are not heavy. I should also add that these are the only holders that I've received compliments on ...and I've received a bunch.
High durability and long-term appeal
If you are looking for an extremely sturdy and good-looking cage, the Portland Design Works cages are a great choice. They are on the heavy and rigid side, which makes them a great choice if you want something that can hold irregular items steady, and stand up against wear on a commute or bike packing trip. I have used this cage for about 1000 miles of riding, with virtually no damage to the finish or structure. I would not recommend this for sport riding, as it is a bit difficult to put a bottle in it mid-ride due to the rigidity.
bottle grippers man
These cages are a real HOOT!! You can curl the wings in for a snug fit while still winning the bike fashion contests
Paint is rubbing off after one use!
This owl holder is awesome. The supplied bolts were a nice surprise as the ones for my bike were missing. I’d give 5 stars except the paint in the owls face is rubbing off after just one use. That takes away from what makes this so charming and the reason I bought it. I’ll ask REI if they’ll swap it for a new one and then use it for my backup bottle which gets used less.
Looks awesome, holds bottles snugly
Holds my Camelbak Podium water bottle perfectly. My commute is pretty bumpy and mountain trail like, but there is no chance of my bottle falling out with this holder. Oh and it looks awesome with the wings around the bottle!
this is a really nice bottle cage
I just received this and am pleased with how nice it looks. It looks just like the picture, is well built, and should last for years as it can be bent inward to the desired level of grip. I’ve nothing bad to say about this cage, great product
