Warm but not durable

My husband bought this vest for me and I reluctantly kept it because I wasn't thrilled about the look of it, or rather the lack of style in the design. Surprisingly this vest has kept me quite warm over my Smartwool base layer shirt. The nylon inner layer is a good wind blocker. The zipper has misaligned a couple of times but I no longer wash it with it zipped up so that solved the problem. The fleece extends to the inside of the collar and that keeps your neck quite warm. There is no stretch to this fabric so your arms can sometimes get "stuck" while putting it on. The downside of this garment is that after wearing it once to do some light yard work, the fleece around the armholes have become matted down and looks almost bare in those areas. It is similar looking to what fleece looks like when melted by the heat in a dryer. To be clear, I have only washed the vest in a netted bag on delicate, in cold water and hung in room temperature to dry. I think the fleece just doesn't hold up to any sort of pressure or friction. I have tried to fluff up those bits with my finger nails but the texture is just so matted that it cannot be improved. I am not sure if I will return this for another one or keep it to wear only in the house and never out in public. The defect from wear around the arm holes make the vest look cheap and you can see by the pricing that it is anything but cheap. For a Patagonia product, I am surprised at its quality.

Just never wear your seatbelt?

I've had this for about six weeks, even after about week two you can clearly see a diagonal line across my chest where the seat belt has matted down the fuzz. It already looks like a worn out 30 year old teddy bear. This is my third Patagonia vest in the past few years and I really want to love it, but if I'm honest with myself the reality is that I just don't.

Super soft and cozy vest

I LOVE this vest. It’s so soft and cozy. I even wear it around the house. It’s slightly more fitted and shorter than their puffer vests . But only by about half a size. I’m 5’4” and 115 and normally wear an xs so sized up to a small which fits slightly loose. The only thing that could be improved is the lining. It would be better if it was also fleece. But I still like the vest so much I got it in 2 colors!

Almost as warm as down, only quiet!

I never had any Los Gatos fleece apparel before, but am glad to add this to my cold weather arsenal. The warmth rivals down fill, but it's less noisy, lol. And comfortingly soft! The zipperless hand-warmer pockets are the perfect touch. I rate as a 4 of 5 only because the fleece does tend to matt a bit with wear. Also, the fit is a bit snug -- I had to size up from my usual medium (I am a Women's size 10 ordinarily.)

Disappointed

I am a big fan of Patagonia and have never had a sizing issue before. I am normally an XL in all their jackets and fleece with room for layers underneath. This vest was so small I could not even get it together enough to zip. It fit like a tight medium. I did not read the reviews prior to ordering because I normally trust all Patagonia clothing but now I will going forward. Also for the price the material seemed very thin and not worth $99. Returned it :(

Beautiful and soft, but undersized

Bought this for my wife and she loves it!! The only problem is that it is too small. She has other Patagonia fleeces and such that fit just fine. This was too small compared to the same sizing as the other items. Recommend buying at least 1 size up.

Excellent fleece vest

I actually bought this for my mother in law. She has renal failure and goes for dialysis 3x weekly, and the facility maintains low temperature. After trying various cardigans and fleeces we tried this Patagonia vest and it works perfectly. It is unobtrusive and light, yet warm and comfy. She likes it so much she wears it at home too. Sorry my review isn’t outdoor oriented.
