Rated 5 out of 5 by from Keeper We live in Chicago and if you're familiar with the weather in winter you know it's brutal. This coat deals nasty mother nature a swift uppercut. I was out today, 9 degrees, windy and had to walk 5 blocks. Perfectly comfortable with only a t-shirt under coat

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My favorite jacket This thing is perfect and worth every dollar. It’s incredibly versatile and fits me perfectly. (Size M) I’m 5’11” 180 lbs. Its warm enough to wear when it’s 30 degrees and small enough to wear under other jackets when it’s cooler. The hood has great coverage, and I wear it under my motorcycle helmet down below freezing temps under my other gear. I wear it most days. I even wear it by itself like a shirt when it’s a little warmer. It’s the most versatile piece of clothing I own. It packs down small, it’s lightweight, and warm.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice jacket for the PNW Love this jacket. It's very light and warm enough for the PNW down to about mid 30's. Packs up small in it's own pocket which is nice as the reason I bought it was for backpacking. I've got another Mountain Hardware insulated jacket, but it's a little warm for the campsite during the summer. This one should be perfect.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Deceptively warm This is one of those jackets that feels like nothing. It's so lightweight and airy feeling that it's almost impossible to believe that it can be warm. Amazingly packable and light, this is a remarkably warm layer for winter hiking. I only give it 4 of 5 stars, because of how pricey it is. That said, I wore this as one of my layers on a subzero hiking day recently, and it kept me safe and warm - and it's hard to put a price on that.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Patagonia Men's Nano Insulated Hoodie review This jacket was a great purchase. Very light, yet warm. Easy to pack and the hood served as a place to pack the jacket into a very compact unit for packing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Jacket Ever I have had this jacket for around 3 years now. Due to the nano puff's incredible warmth to weight ratio, this jacket has traveled with me to quite a few countries. Iceland, in particular, has very unpredictable weather which made it a no-brainer to keep this puffy in my bag at all time. I currently live/work in Chicago and this jacket stops the windy city's (Chicago), wind like a knife. Ill wear this all through fall winter and spring. Amazing jacket. Patagonia hit the nail on the head with this one. Buy it!

Questions & Answers

How does the Nano-Puff compare to the Micro-Puff: warmth, activities, weather resistance, etc?

Asked by: BigTee
The Nano Puff and Micro Puff are fairly comparable. The Micro Puff is slightly warmer as it has 5 more grams of insulation. The Micro Puff is also lighter in overall weight thanks to the thinner face fabric. The Pertex Quantum on the Micro Puff shell makes it very durable and more resistant to wind. Water resistance is going to be pretty much the same between the two jackets.

I've never owned a down jacket before, is it better to go with a tighter or smaller fit for less airspace between skin and jacket?

Asked by: Adam
Minimizing the airspace under the jacket will offer more efficient insulation; however, most down jackets are cut to minimize this airspace already. It's probably best to choose the same size as your other performance oriented jackets.

Will this work well for adding a layer on top of it during colder weather, or does the hood get in the way or bunch up?

Asked by: K123
This hoodie can be used alone or as part of a garment layering system. We cannot state if the hood will bunch when used in conjunction with other garments.

Does the filling in this jacket shed like down? My husband is looking for a jacket that will keep him as warm as down but the feathers will not shed all over his clothes. Does a Primaloft jacket such as this fit that bill?

Asked by: Ellie
We have not received any direct feedback as of December 2017 of this jacket shedding.
