Design fail!
This is long and narrow. I didn’t try it over a ball cap but it definitely doesn’t fit over any kind of brimmed sun hat. Could possibly work for children.
Great for head and face protection!
I have two comments: one, don't wear your hat on top, as when the net is pressed down the little buggers can still get you! But if you put your hat under the protection is great. I will say, though, that I wish I had bought the jacket/head covering combo, as my long sleeve shirt was not enough coverage against the bites!
Must have!
This item was a life saver on my hikes! Small compact, easy to put away. Comfortable to wear and fits easily over hats!
OK for baseball cap
The netting is good. While trimming trees, one under-armpit cord tended to move out of place. Look closely at the package's model and you'll see him wearing a baseball-type cap, not a fully brimmed one. I suppose the elastic-bordered muffin top helps keep the net centered on top but it also means the net's total size cannot be used to freely drape over a bigger hat. I wanted it for a wide brimmed (sort of Indiana Jones) hat so not a fit for me. I tried to make it work but the brim was crushed in the down position all the way around. It may work with a fedora. (Not trying to be funny, just setting the size of a potentially workable brim.) Used with a baseball cap, I noticed a few buzzing bugs but got no bites.
WAY too small
Neither of the Ben's head nets ( I bought one of each) will fit over a sun hat with any sort of adequate brim, including Tilley's Airflow. Even worn over a baseball cap (?) as shown on the packaging, they hug your face so tightly as to be worthless for mosquito protection, not to mention very annoying. Instead buy one of the Sea to Summit nets
ultra net fit review
This did not fit over a full-brim Tilley hat. Worn over a base-ball style cap the net fit tight to my ears, bugs love that. I will return it.
Way too small and misshapen
I bought this back in January because the package illustration sold me on the 'over the hat and under the arms' fit for bug defense. Mosquito season is now here at the lakes and I spent a good deal of time trying to make this windsock shaped net fit over both a brimmed hat and myself; just like the picture. No way, no how would it work. Maybe okay for a small child?
What the heck?
As other reviewers have pointed out, it's long and narrow, like a sock. I'm not sure if it would fit over a baseball cap. Certainly doesn't fit over a wide brimmed hat. Are you supposed to just put it over your head with no hat? Might as well put pantyhose over your face, because that's what this thing feels like.
Stupid design
This headnet does NOT work for "your favorite headwear." It is NOT a "roomy fit." It only fits over a baseball cap, which is utterly worthless for anyone who doesn't have thick curly hair that covers their ears and back of head and neck. It doesn't fit over a hat with an all-around brim (like a rain hat) that would actually keep the net--and therefore the bugs--away from the neck and ears.
Weird fit
Originally picked because I thought the under arm straps would make a a better fit. The top has a wierd elastic band and this causes the net to fit very close to the face. Stick with a basic cheap model. It will get thr job done, but try on a few first. I didn't.
