Best light ever. Performed beyond expectation.

Ran a line between two trees with two of these, and was absolutely amazed at how much light they put out. We used these a couple of basically moonless nights and where able to walk around a good size camp without head lamps. We only used these on low for about three hours in the evening. When we checked the charge the next day the still had two dots out of three for charge. We left them hanging on the line through out the day to see if the would fully recharge and sure enough they did. They were not in full sun but rather partially shaded by tree canopy.

I don't get the blow up aspect.

This is a good LED light when deflated. I can hang it from my tent and it lights up the tent very well. I also like that it has a solar charger and is pretty light. I don't get the blow-up aspect of it. I t looks like it is supposed to be a lantern-like light that puts out light in all directions when inflated, but I have never found that this works very well at all. It's too directional, not putting out much light to the sides. In fact, I would rather it didn't have the extra vinyl material to blow up, and just use it like a directional yet diffuse light that I could hang up and project light downwards.

good idea - could be improved around the margins

I have two of these (both gifts) and they work well. The light lasts mostly through a long night (we used it several times as a night light), it can illuminate a room / tent adequately, though you need to be close if you'd like to read a book. The several color temperatures are a nice touch (I prefer the warmer LEDs). There is, however, room for improvement: 1. The flat buttons that turn the light on/off are hard to find in the dark. 2. The light has a loop to be strapped to your pack. Somehow, my light always ended up facing the wrong way with the solar cell towards the pack. A friend of mine had an external mesh pocket, which worked better.

Great idea!

I am so grateful to the REI employee who showed this to me. It is perfect for camping and backpacking. It is lightweight, packs down, solar powered, really bright (in fact read on about this issue) and has a loop to hang from a pack or tree branch. The only complaint I have is that the little LEDs are too bright and the light can be harsh. I will be purchasing a couple of Luci Lux frosted versions for softer light. I LOVE this idea and get so many compliments on it when I take it to the outdoors.

Luci Light

Luci Lights are great! A friend gave me one about a year ago as a thank you and I have raved about it since then. I've given them as gifts and everyone gets just as excited about them. No batteries, great source of steady light, easy to compact and great design.

Love these!

Fantastic! Lightweight and easy to use. Puts out a bright, cool white light. We used two in our large 8 person tent and it was plenty of light. You could easily use just one in a 4 person tent. We also used them in place of a flash light on nighttime bathhouse trips.

WORTH it

Spotted this in a friend's gear and was instantly jealous. Balked a little at the price at REI but glad I spent the $! Mine is a bit older and has straps on the bottom and top, allowing me to easily re-position a clip to angle the solar cells upward on my pack. Not sure why they removed this strap on the newer models but it makes me hesitate to buy another. It is a bit heavier than some lightweight flashlights but makes up for this on longer trips not having to pack extra batteries. I do like that the newer ones come with a battery gauge, as I was never sure how much charge I had (have never killed mine yet).

awesome light!

This is fantastic! Used it camping and on a dock for night fishing. It has an on/off switch and gives off great light. We used it during a ragnar tail and it gave off great light all night at our site.

Why don't you have one of these already?

If you don't have the Luci Light in your life, why not? I own two of these (transparent and opaque white) and they have been life savers on a VA car camping trip, a Nebraska hunting trip, and a multi-day offshore fishing trip totally off the grid. It's surprisingly durable and the solar cell / battery surprisingly works time after time. About 3 good hours of sun and you're set.

Safely Light Up Your Life

I received this light as a Christmas gift. I tried it out and then stowed it away with our camping gear. Six months later I pulled it out to use during an unexpected power outage. It still had a full charge and was the brightest light from the bunch of headlamps and flashlights. I usually light our UCO Candleliers for these situations but I didn't need to this time. This lantern had us covered and lasted for hours. I love this gift!! I plan to purchase a few more for our household and for gifts. They are useful, bright, dependable, and great for anyone!
