Essential item for bolting routes

For anyone spending extending periods hanging on the wall (eg bolting routes) this item is ESSENTIAL. It removes most of the pressure off the back of your legs and allows you to work at height for much longer periods than any harness. I clip mine in very short to the biner attached to my GriGri which allows easy movement up and down the rope. Worth its weight for sure. If I were to make a any improvement, I would suggest that BD add clip in loops near the top of the triangle part of the seat so users can clip in short directly vs having to use the ratchet straps. That way one could remove them and save even more weight.

This chair is great!

I recently went on a climbing trip to The Cirque of The Unclimbable's and brought my new Bosun's Chair. It is not only good for big walls but also for base camp! The chair not only offers rest but it also has a foam cushion in it to keep your butt warm. Definitely a good purchase!

Great!

I bought this to work on via ferrata installations where even the big gun harness isn't comfy enough. Hanging in the harness for hours drilling holes and pulling loose rock is brutal. This chair provides more comfort and allows me to work longer without stopping. Racking on your harness can be a bit difficult when carrying a lot, but there are some options to clip to the chair. It's easiest just to hang a 5 gallon bucket to keep tools etc organized and off your harness.

Great for bolting

I have spent hours in this chair. I mostly use it for bolting new routes or re-bolting old routes. Often I will spend 1-2 hours at a time hanging in the chair, which would be impossible in a harness. I already own 2 and going to buy a third so I always have one on hand at different climbing areas

Fear hanging belays no longer

Is it a luxury? absolutely. Will you dream about it when you're at a hanging belay and you forgot it in the car? yes. Not only does will this chair save your butt, it will also save your belayshionships when you aren't yelling at your partner to go faster.

Lightweight and Comfy Wall Chair

Turned Misery into Comfort for belaying those long aid pitches where no ledges were available to stand on. I hope BD continues to make niche items like this for climbers approaching all different styles of climbing.

light and relatively inexpensive

You can make your own, but it won't be as light, comfortable or useful. It's really light, fits in my haul bag and offers a great rest when brushing routes. I attached a nylon daisy to keep the tools attached.

This is NOT safe to use as a Bosun Chair

For a brand with credibility to market such an unsafe product , without explaining that you also need to use full climbing harness at the same time is completely irresponsible

Fantastic but wish the back rest was larger

Took this on Final Frontier at Fifi. Absolutely essential and a total game-changer on that route, but the back rest could be a bit larger for comfort reasons
