Please note, this sizing chart is meant to serve only as a guideline.
Sizing downhill poles: Stand in your ski boots on a level floor. With your poles upside down—grips touching the floor—grab the pole beneath the basket so that the top of your thumb touches the basket. Your elbow should now be at a 90-degree angle. If the angle is less than 90 degrees, get a shorter pole. If the angle is greater, get a longer pole.
Sizing XC poles: Stand in your XC ski boots on a level floor. Place the pole tips on the floor next to your feet. The top of the grips should reach your arm pits.
Sizing skate poles: Stand in your skate boots on a level floor. Place pole tips on the ground with the pole shafts perpendicular to the floor. The poles should reach from the ground up to a point somewhere between your chin and your lips.

I bought these for touring and on piste skiing, and while I like the extended grip and weight -I have not been impressed with the durability. The grippy coating is already wearing off in spots after just 40 days of use in 1 season. The metal lockers for adjusting the extension are too malleable and have been bent out of shape w/o noticing on runs and then the pole collapses. Additionally there is glue connecting both the tip and basket to the bottom section of pole. I know that bc that glue is very weak as my whole basket ripped off in the woods -that was a fun waste of time to search for on a powder day! They do look kinda cool tho
I bought this only to find the quality was very cheap. Less than 20 minutes into my first use skinning up, one of the baskets broke off. E-mailed customer support and was prompted to buy a $8 replacement with $20 shipping. I will not be doing that.
Skied with these poles for less than a season and they did not hold up. They are extremely flimsy, the tip broke off and the latch to secure the telescoping aspect of the poles would start to open up while skiing. Even before that, they just felt flimsy, it felt like they were about to snap at any moment. Surprised REI even sells these considering how cheap and poorly constructed these poles are
Purchased a pair and used 30+ days so far. No issues with baskets or locking mechanism. Wish it was a three section pole for more compact storage when touring. Grips are holding up well with only slight fading but no texture changes. Used at various VT resorts on powder and icy days. No issues.
