Smartwool  Active Lined 3" Shorts - Women's

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love these shorts. The fabric is fantastic. It's soft, breathable and moves with you not against you. The shorts are nice and loose dont climb up when running and the waist band is nice and secure. I have worn these shorts several times for running and lifting and they have been great for both. Smartwool gave me this free product to try.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really appreciated the thoughtful design of the Smartwool Active Lined 3' Short. The fabric is high-quality, soft to the touch. It also passes the squat and sweat test - meaning they don't become see-through upon squatting down or when you sweat. They didn't chafe or roll on my quads and were quite breathable. The small details—like the supportive, non-chafing brief liner, two generously sized side pockets, and the discrete interior hip pocket for a key or other small essentials—really made this short. The higher waistband is a standout; it's flattering and stayed securely in place without digging in. Even as someone who usually insists on a drawstring for security, I found the elastic more than capable of handling high-movement activities. While the ruched elastic waistband is flattering in appearance, I didn't love the feel for longer long-distance run. Overall, these have become a favorite for local walks, hikes, and gym sessions where comfort and utility are the priority. I received this product for free in exchange for my honest review. If you have thick thighs, you know how hard it is to find shorts that make you feel comfortable and confident that don't stick to your legs. I was nervous the 3" short would be too short, but these shorts are actually perfect! They fit comfortably on my waist (I prefer a higher rise), and they don't bunch up while being active all while being roomy enough in the thigh zone. I'm in between M/L for bottoms and sized down to M for the best fit.

These fit very long and may be more ideal for taller people. High waistband and long fabric length, ended up having to roll it down to fit. Material and print was fantastic! Internal liner rode up in the back and wasn't ideal a little uncomfortable later in the activity. Wouldn't recommend for running but great for casual use.

I wanted to love these shorts but had a few issues with them aesthetically and in how they fit. I normally wear an XS in run shorts with a 3' inseam. For some reason the active shorts just seem like so much more fabric than I want in a lightweight short. The waistband comes up entirely too high for my short torso. I felt like I was wearing a skirt rather than a pair of shorts. The high waistband was also not flattering on me. The shorts have two large pockets on the front but when using the shorts for running thru aren't useful as they don't zip shut and anything in there will flop around. I wore the shorts both indoors on the treadmill and outdoors to run. I never had any issues with the fabric smelling and it definitely kept me cool. It is also not very hot here yet so will have to test them out in the summer. The fabric has an amazing feel and I would love to own it in a different cut short. I also found it hard to match tops and shoes with this particular print as it has so many colors and things going on. I will continue to wear the shorts but definitely won't be reaching for them as often as my favorites.

I really wanted to like these, but they are not my fav. They are too mom-shorts-looking. I'm 5'7 and 138 lbs. While the M was recommended to me, the SM fit better. The shorts have a very low crotch. You can't pull them up any higher because they are already high-waisted, and the liner is too small. The liner barely fits my butt, and I constantly have to pull it out. The crotch is so low that it rubs (gets in the way) when I wear these to exercise or hike. That said, I like the material and the quality.

I wore these for the first time today. They are great, I will definitely be getting more as I start to replace all my “plastic” shorts. I got navy and it’s a great classic navy. I will be buying black next. The fit is great, and I love that they have pockets. The length is also great. Finally a pair of shorts I can feel good about.

I love these shorts!! They feel fantastic. The sizing is off though. I wear a medium in all other smartwool shorts purchased but this medium is more like an xl or l. The pockets are nice and I wish for one to secure keys.

I love the lightweight, silky feel of these shorts. I’ve worn them several times running and they are now my first choice when grabbing shorts for this purpose. I need to buy another pair so I do t have to wait for them to be washed!

Love these shorts. Fit well and pretty true to size. High wasted and comfy! I also have piece of mind knowing that the liner is not polyester. No endocrine disrupters where it matters!!
