Smartwool  Merino Cargo Hike Shorts 7" - Men's

First time purchasing something other than socks from Smartwool. Love the idea of wool shorts and I really like the look but there are three issues with these that make me wish I had returned them when I could. The snap is interesting but comes loose way too easily. A button would be much preferred. The drawstring simply doesn't work as needed to wear without a belt. It needs to open on the front, not inside. Also it's kind of stretchy so it's hard to tighten sufficiently. The fly is way too short to do men's business without undoing the snap and belt. Minor inconvenience but why have the fly at all? Great leg length, attractive color, and fabric feels nice though.

I am a petite woman and am very dissatisfied that the women's hiking shorts are so short and don't have the awesome cargo pocket that the men's do and so I ordered the men's version in a small (normally a women's medium). They are freaking fantastic!! Just what I was hoping for and surprising the rise was just right and the crotch wasn't too low. Please, smartwool, don't make all of women's shorts so short and without the pockets, it makes them not as functional.

The snap, which is a slide-style fastener, wouldn’t stay “snapped. ” The drawstring seems to be an afterthought to keep these shorts from falling down when the snap comes undone. A good fit with a button or real snap and no drawstring would make these much better. These didn’t work out for me, but Smartwool lived up to its guarantees.

I love these shorts and I now have all three colors. I was initially concerned about a few of the reviews. I'm 5'6" and I was afraid they would be too long but, they are not; they are perfect. They are light, dry quickly, and I appreciate all the pockets.

The snap does not work or stay shut. Just give me a regular snap. The drawstring serves no purpose and is always in the way. I finally just snipped it out. The rest is great. I would love just a regular short with a real snap. Love the color.

Love the fabric and cut, but the front pockets (not deep enough for phone security which is essential when hiking/navigating) and button (not a button) need improved.

These are definitely unisex, and I adore them!! Lightweight, comfy, and merino wool. What's not to like. Good merino wool shorts are difficult to find!

These shorts fit perfectly, are comfortable, whisk sweat away, and never stink!!!!
