Trail-Running Shoes Buying Guide

On or off road, these waterproof Saucony shoes perform. They deliver the same foam innovation and comfort as the iconic Ride franchise but with a more rugged design. The lugged soles are grippy.

Found another defective pair for some reason pushes in on the left foot on the tongue. They’re definitely sized properly and they’re going back unfortunately you have to wonder if they’re sending defective ones to me or what’s going on I didn’t get a blister though I had a opps I guess I got a defective pair of AI before that and I got a blister.
I really loved Saucony Canyon TR 2 shoes with the 8mm drop and these were the closest I could find since the Canyons were discontinued. Overall these feel very similar, but I do not think they will be very durable. I’ve only run three times in them and the side wall of the shoes already has damage to it likely from contact with a rock. These runs were on very tame and not very technical trails so I doubt they will live very long once they hit more serious trails like I’ve intended for these shoes. Meanwhile the Canyons did 2000+ km and have less damage. The quality is fairly disappointing in the Rides. They are still the most comfortable 8mm drop option I’ve found though hence the 3 stars. Also, the laces are garbage, they don’t hold, and needed the be replaced immediately.
I got these about a month ago and they’re super comfy! I got them for work because they’re waterproof and have great traction. I wear them for 8+ hours a day. The only thing I don’t like is that the light green foam part is starting to peel off on the bottom and now there are some white chunks showing, but the shoes are still comfortable. I have also run and hiked in these and they’re very comfortable for both activities. Hoping these last me a while longer!
I normally wear a size 9.5 and I purchased a size 10. I am glad I did because they fit perfectly (not a lot of room in the toe box). If I ran more consistantly (i.e. training for races, etc) I would have wanted more space in the toe box and a 10.5 would have been perfect. But currently I am using them more for walking and mild hiking so the size 10 is perfect for those activities. I have not had issues with the sides getting damaged like some have mentioned. As far as the laces go, I just make sure I tie them with a tight double knot and they have not come undone at all. They are very comfy. In the beginning they felt a little stiff, but that has improved with breaking in.
I’ve had a few pairs of the Ride series, but this is my first with the GTX. I had an ASICS Cumulus made with goretex and they held up great outdoors for walks & runs, but I was in need of a new pair and liked my Rides so I thought I’d give these a try. In general, I wore my other Ride pairs for both walking and the elliptical. However, this pair I do not recommend for elliptical use. They are great for walking because of the thick tread and keep my feet dry. However, the tread is so thick that when I wore them on my elliptical, my feet could not balance properly because the pedals have a grip of their own which does not match well with the thick tread of this sneaker. Therefore, I am only wearing them for outdoor walks. Even inside, they grip thicker carpet funny and can cause you to get “stuck” when stepping and could cause a fall. I love the feel of the laces (unlike other laces I’ve had that either fray or stretch out with use), but they come undone often so they really need to be double-knotted to avoid coming undone. Not a big deal but worth mentioning. I used to always wear a sz 6 1/2 (previous Ride styles) but for this pair and my Ride 15s I sized up to a 7 and the fit is perfect.
Love these. Springy, beautiful colors, and water proof. I removed the laces & they have one black elastic band that crosses over - they are tight in the bridge even without laces. The tongue stays in place because they are stitched to not have an opening for water on the sides of the tongue.
I have been looking for he perfect rail runner for about 5 years, with no luck. I think I finally found them in the TR2. I love the square shaped toe box with the 8mm drop. I like how they can handle both road and light trails.
I bought these sneaks for walking the pup. I was looking for something that could standup to our crazy New England weather, and they exceeded my expectations. And as an added bonus, they’re super comfy as well!
I am pleased with my new purchase. It has been especially great to keep me active in the winter. I walk 4-5 miles a day, and the Goretex makes it possible with the wet and snowy winters here in VA:)
Great shoe for general use and they do keep my feet dry! My Endorphin Shift 3 shoes have more supportive cushioning but these will be great for power walking and on the trail with our pup.
