Shoutout to La Sportiva for sponsoring the Austin Rattler last weekend! I received a voucher for shoes after placing in the race. While I was familiar with Solutions (excellent btw) from climbing, this was my first pair of trail shoes from La Sportiva. First impression was the build quality was excellent! I went for a 9 mile run out of the box, fairly technical and varying paces from 7-11 mins. The BOA lockdown was incredible. The grip held up on soft ground and with some mud. The shoe was responsive without being too firm. It handled everything the run had. The one word that came to mind was consistent - every foot strike, ascent, descent etc. These definitely go. As others have said, go up 0.5-1 sizes from your US size. My two requests - more colors! I tried to order from the EU sight originally to snag the yellows. Nothing says La Sportiva like the yellow/black colorway. Also, I’d like to see another version of this shoe with some super foam and slight larger lugs. That would be TOUGH.
Having literally run thousands of miles and owned hundreds, if not thousands of pairs of running shoes I will tell you that these are the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. The only thing that came close was the Cameron Haynes HOVR w/BOA System that were discontinued after his sponsorship ended. The absolute game changer on these shoes is the double access for BOA lacing system that they have incorporated. The individual that designed these shoes should be given a good pat on the back! Thanks La Sportiva!!
Absolutely love these shoes and hoping there is a new release soon. I have about ~100 miles on them so far and they are still in great condition. I was a little skeptical about the BOA before buying the shoes but its my favorite thing now. Love the ability to dial in to the preferred fit and the easy, quick release for breathability during breaks. The dials seem pretty durable as well. I just finished some trail running through the Enchantments and banged the dials on some granite a handful of times but they held up nicely. Will definitely be purchasing any new release. Cons: Limited colors
Great shoe! Fits like no other I've tried. Waiting to test it out on a race. Just a bit of a pain to try to slip into that tight upper rather than a lace system .
I bought this 6 weeks ago. I've used it and just training runs but going to put it to use August 24th for 25K TansSelkerk Race. So far great shoe
Gosh it's an almost excellent shoe. First of all, I bought the yellow one (European store) because it's so beautiful. The front and upper are unmatched for me. Super super comfortable. But the heel is a heartbreaker because I can feel the neoprene sleeve / gator but mostly because the heel cup doesn't curve back to hug the achilles. I have to wear thicker socks and really lock the Boa's down to prevent heel lift. I wish the heel was held in place better but I like the shoe so much that I'm wondering if I can add padding to modify it. Sizing is another issue. In other brands I'm a 10.5 and always have been. With La Sportiva sometimes I have to size up a LOT (or size down if it's pants). On these I got the 44.5. Love the boa, love the yellow. Bummed about the heel.
Sportiva have really outdone themselves with these! I have been using these as a race model to my regular Jackal IIs, which I've been using more as a training shoe. The BOA versions have the super sticky rubber and the BOA closure is super secure. My feet aren't moving at all inside the shoes. I love the convenience of loosening them and then dialing them back in when taking breaks or stopping at aid stations. These will be in my race bag for the foreseeable future!
