Lowa saving money at our expense
My husband has been wearing this shoe for several years. The pair we just bought was the same price as usual, but there are no longer hooks at the top for securing laces. He really loved those hooks but he's going to try to adjust. May have to find a different shoe next time though.

Not like Renegade GTX Lo's. Beware the "Evo."
Bought these thinking they'd be like the Renegade GTX Lo's I've previously bought multiple times over the years. But, no, they're not. These are like a different shoe that someone tried to style to be made to sort of look like Renegade GTX Lo's. But, these are less substantial, less beefy, have a lot less vertical space for toes, and, overall, just seems like an effort by Lowa to make an extra buck by selling a knock off of there own shoe. Long story, short, "Evo" seems like a joke. I've returned these. Seems Lowa has now lost someone who would have been a customer for the rest of their life. Never again.

Believe the poor reviews

I have hallux limitus in both feet, so Lowa renegades have been a staple for near ten years. They had ample toe room and a very stiff midsole that prevented excessive toe flex. No longer. These are clearly lighter than the older non EVO version. They fold in half with just slightly more force than moab 3s. And their toe box is so tight that on a correctly sized shoe I cannot wiggle my toes at all. I do not have wide feet. This is one of the worst product redesigns I have ever seen, and to keep the same price point when they have very obviously undergone a severe quality reduction is awful.

not Renegade GTX Lo; beware the added "Evo"

I've gone through several pairs of Renegade GTX Lo's over the years. Absolutely loved them. Sad to discover this "Evo" version is not, in fact, the Renegade GTX Lo of the past. The Renegade Evo GTX Lo is less substantial, less beefy, and clearly scaled down to save on manufacturing costs. It very much looks like some other shoe that was styled to make it look as similar as possible to the Renegade GTX Lo. Anyhow, I'm returning the "Evo" shoes I just received; don't have any interest in them. Disappointed in Lowa; they've lost someone who would have been a customer for the rest of their life.

Lowa making a mess out of a formerly great shoe

Wow, Lowa ruined an amazing pair of hiking boots. I wanted to believe and I was wrong. Versus the old shoes: these are tighter, more cramped, the tongue is much narrower, the heavy duty metal bracket at the last eyelet is gone. When I put my first Renegade Evo's on, they were comfortable and I could just wear them. These feel awful and if there's one thing I know about hiking boots, they have to be immediately comfortable

Very disappointing

Forget these EVO Lowas. They are simply not the same shoe as the previous version with the two ever convenient hooks (vs the usual eyelets). I bought at least ten pairs of the older model after foot surgery 5 years ago. I loved those! Not these!!! No hooks. Less substantial. Just an expensive, cheap-feeling pair of shoes. I returned the two pair that I bought. Bummer Lowa!!

Most comfortable walking/hiking shoes ever!

Ignore all the negative reviews about how badly these shoes have become in their ā€œEVOā€ rendition. These are the most comfortable hiking/walking shoes I’ve ever worn! So comfortable and well made that I bought a second pair a month or so later. I give them 10 stars - five stars for each pair. The one downside is their high cost, reflecting their European origin and manufacturing, I suppose. I bought them on sale from REI, so the pinch wasn’t as bad as it could be. Ordered them a half size larger than my normal size. They fit perfectly, required no break in, and look like they’ll last for years.

Very comfortable

I have been wearing Renegade GTX for years and continue to come back to them. Yes, this is not the same shoe I purchased 10 years ago but I like it just as much or better. I am 76 years old and still backpacking with Lowa boots, but I wear this shoe as my everyday walking shoe because it is very comfortable. This shoe fits my narrow foot better than most of the other brands and the sole seems to be wearing much better than the older GTX boots and shoes did.

solid shoe

This is my first pair of Lowas. I bought this model with no prior knowledge or impression of the brand. It quickly became my everyday go-to shoe for hiking or just running around town. I find it roomy and still firm enough to offer good protection for my feet. I even wear it at my construction job. It is a solid shoe.

Same high quality.

This is the same great, rugged shoe that I have purchased for years. I use it mostly for 5-7mile hikes in the Colorado Springs area. This new model dispenses with the silly speed hooks. Who needs them on an oxford? These are still very comfortable shoes.
