I bought this backpack once it came out and I got to say, I have been WAITING for this one! For context, I am graduating from my physical therapy program. This backpack is definitely better for my personal everyday compared to the original everyday PD backpack. I love using the hook system especially since I like keeping my backpack clean from dirty floors. I also love the premium feel and organization, along with the quick access pockets you can easily use as a water bottle compartment. As a soon to be physical therapist, I love that this backpack is comfortable and encourages better posturing with the shoulder straps helping with stretching our pec muscles! Despite my love and patience I have had for this city line drop, I do have my knocks. The shoulder straps are thin and comes with a chest strap that does not feel premium, in which the loop that holds the tightening strap is loose and often comes undone. I understand that this backpack highlights the hook feature to hang on tables however if you need to put the backpack on the floor, it does not sit up straight and can be awkward at times. Lastly, my biggest knock on this backpack is the laptop sleeve/not having a dedicated laptop/tech section with its own zipper. The quick access pocket on the top of the backpack is in a position where if it is filled it can hit your laptop! So I definitely avoid putting solid objects in that quick access pocket. Overall giving this backpack 4/5 stars as I would buy this for typical daily use as a PT graduate. If you are looking to protect your tech to the max, opt for the everyday backpack!
This backpack is subtle in its design as well as its capacity and organizational features. I have it maybe 55% full in the main compartment with a large tech bag at its base and my camera on top of that. Plenty of room to stuff a sweater or something else. I love the side zipper pockets. It's a clever design to have them zip up at an angle to accommodate for larger water bottles while still maintaining the ability to complete conceal a smaller bottle. I don't feel they take up much room in the main compartment either. I have a sunglasses case in the other side so I love the possibilities this has with longer items. This is an unheralded design choice in my opinion. One thing I was worried from just the initial photos from the site was the softness and material. Not having a retail store near me with one I could test prior to purchase was a risk, but reading that material was 660d and then comparing it to competitors bags, its definitely a higher than some of the market darlings I looked up. Upon receiving it and actually feeling the material, I was pleasantly surprised that the bag had more structure than the pictures led on. It's stiff in just the right places to maintain a shape when empty while being soft and flexible. I also want to mention the look of the crinkled nylon gave this an old timey sack feel that I was drawn to. I am very pleased with my purchase and I absolutely love this in Eclipse.
I bought this bag the day it released!! It is the perfect bag that I wish they released earlier. It’s super lightweight and comfortable but still has lots of organized insides. The top EDC pockets are so convenient for my phone wallet and AirPods. The straps have NO dangle stopper of any come though!!! That’s the one thing I didn’t like
So glad I waited for this to be released, it’s everything I hoped it would be. This bag is used on my daily train commute, holding a laptop, iPad, thermos, umbrella, and assorted cords and headphones. Padding outside the laptop area is minimal which keeps the weight and bulk down. The weight of my gear stays super close to my back, letting me cut through crowds without bumping my bag into others. The level of thoughtfulness is on par for Peak and the materials are high quality as you’d expect. If you need something less intense than their camera-focused gear this is the backpack for you.
Really happy with this bag. I was looking to replace my shoulder bag that I use for work, and this is perfect. It looks deceptively simple, but there is something about the fit that makes it feel like the best backpack I've worn. The look of the bag when empty or full is great, wearing the bag whether it's only got a handful of items or if I've stuffed it full is still a really comfortable experience. I really enjoy wearing this during the walk to work.
I love the new city line and backpack, I have the everyday backpack as well but this is lighter and has smart features for day to day use, for me the best balance if you don't carry special items. The computer pocket is robust, it has enough pockets for all my small items so I don't need another pouch and I can fit my jacket, big headphones and water bottle without feeling the additional weight of the everyday bag. Love it!
Amazing quality as usual from Peak Design. Much lighter than the Everyday Backbag, and it should be possible to use it as a personal item, even on strict airlines, when it's not loaded to the top (not tested yet, but you can bend the top part, so it should fit in the 40cm length limit).
Recently purchased this, along with their suitcase, and it’s a perfect travel setup. Love the thoughtful pocket design and more importantly how lite the bag is. The only gripe I’d have is the length of the straps. For future runs there should be a keeper or just less material.
I’ve used an Everyday backpack for years now but this new a city model offers the same efficient storage in a much lighter package. Really like the accessible side pockets
Few weeks in and it is now my daily carry. Love the hook and having a front zipper compartment plus a top small compartment is exactly what I needed for a laptop carry.
