I always feel in limbo when buying any Yeti bottle. The bottle itself is always fantastic, and easily the most durable option out there- but man the lids just suck. They always seem to be made out of the cheapest possible plastic, made in a way that are always difficult to clean and not to come apart, and have a limited life out of them, which feels like a 180 from what the brand identity is. I always appreciate Yeti trying new things but this lid is just not good. The plastic is cheap, the seal isn’t super great, and the handle is wonky. It’s not the worst thing I’ve used, but when you’re paying this much for a bottle- there is zero excuse for it to suck like this.
My new Red Yeti 26oz with the Flip Chug Cap arrived today and I absolutely love it ❤️ The cap is what sold me, as I am someone who uses a straw and my previous Yeti Rambler had a different adapter to allow me to use my own, without a handle and a much wider opening for my straw. This design is perfect in my opinion and I would never look back to the older style. The locking mechanism really isn’t a dealbreaker for me at all since once you get it down and understand how it works, it’s no trouble. I also love the handle and its placement. It’s comfortable and so convenient. This is my third Yeti Rambler and by far, my most favorite ❤️
I was super excited this flip top lid was available and immediately ordered a bottle with one. However, my experience echoes that of another reviewer: the lid locks into place even when empty and it takes a lot of force and jiggling to loosen to be able to open it again. The magnetic C-ring is also a huge struggle to remove, I just skinned my thumb trying. The lid itself has three gaskets, which is fine. I just throw everything in the dishwasher. I am concerned about how the flip top would hold up long-term because of the spring rusts, that’s it. And it’s not removable from what I can see. I’m not sure I’d recommend this because the design doesn’t seem to be best.
I absolutely love the chug cap! Awesome idea! That said, it's a really poor design. It snaps closed easily, seems to be watertight, and pops right open with the slider. So far, so awesome. However, once it's locked, it is 100% impossible to open with one hand (sometimes 2 hands). I had to stop locking it closed because it requires leverage to open. I use these to ensure I have water with me when I'm away from home, but to get this unlocked, I have to take out my keys and use them for leverage. This issue really needs to be addressed. I jumped at the new cap due to the convenience, but it fails at its main task. I'm legitimately afraid I'm going to break it just trying to get it open.
Overall Great Water Bottle that keeps drinks cold. A few times the Flip Chug locking / opening feature has stuck. Otherwise, good product. This is the 26 oz size, doesn't fit in most car water bottle holders. Wish there was a 24 oz available that would likely fit, Big jump from 18 oz to 26 oz. Also, the stickers on the locking feature could have been a raised embossed feature.
I’ve had it about three weeks now and I’m really enjoying it as a backup for my daily water use at work.
The flip chug cap is unusable; it gets stuck in the lock position even if you didn't intend to put it in the lock position. I have to use maximum, two-handed effort to get it unstuck. My son is not capable of getting it unstuck. Also, the magnetic c-lock is nearly impossible to get off and on. I was so excited to get this water bottle for my son. YETI's double-wall vacuum insulated water bottles keep water very cold for very long. This is the first time I'm writing a review about a product--any product. This cap needs to be redesigned.
I’m disappointed with the design of this bottle. The lock/unlock design is really annoying, half the time it gets stuck. The way the handle is design is also not right. It feels awkward at times. When the spout opens, it’s too close to the handle and you can’t close it as easy. Overall the design of the bottle is not what I expected from yeti. I was excited to try this, thought it would be better than the other one. Disappointed. Color is very pretty.
I will change my review if its user error but I dont get how this is supposed to work one handed. Opening is easy just slide to the right and it pops open...great but once its locked the only way I can get it to unlock is to dig my nail into the back side and pop it up and over. That doesn't seem right and messes up my nail every time, its frustrating. Am I doing this wrong?
The flip open function works great. The lock function is another story. When locked and full of liquid its very hard to slide the ring into place to get it open. When it does move, with a lot of effort, it goes all the way over and the lid pops open. Maybe this works itself out because it seems like a problem that shouldve been easily noticed during the testing period.
