[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Tungsten Tent was more durable than I could have imagined or expected. While camping in the Columbia River Gorge last weekend for a music festival, a major storm passed through starting at 10 pm. There was rain, lightning, and ongoing gusts of winds up to 70 miles per hour. That night other tents were beaten down and torn up. I stayed safe and dry and the tent made it through the scary three hours blowing through the Gorge. Other Marmot tents also survived, while certain other brands tore, poles broke or bent. I’m a fan of this tent and have made tons of recommendations the past week since I returned.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I REALLY wanted to love this tent! However, I was not too impressed with the quality. The rain fly seams were not flush with the tent poles. We tried using the guy lines to pull out the wrinkles but it still bunched up in certain areas... I could tell this would be a problem in wet weather. Also, you have to awkwardly crawl under the rain fly to attach to the tent poles. Overall disappointed
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This tent is fantastic for a to the point 2 person tent. I bought this tent after camping a handful of times with my friend who has an older model and was impressed by the ease of use/setup and packaging. One star was taken away for the choice of parts coloring, two pole ends and tent rivet tabs are dark blue while the rest are yellow. This is like having socks that have left/right printed on them, it's unnecessary and makes it look goofy if you mix it up. It would have been more favorable to make all tent pole ends the consistent yellow to make it easier to setup at night and reduce the chance of poking your friends eye out.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Camping at @10,000' in the Cloud Peak Wilderness in the Bighorn Mtns of Wyoming resulted in my GSD & I being in a memorable thunderstorm. Lightning was cracking over Lake Geneva level and below us. The Marmot Tungsten II was water tight, and easy to secure in the rocky terrain. Once the storm passed, the night was pleasant and cool. All other nights spent in the tent were far less dramatic. Great features, easy access, + good ventilation.
I've used this tent about 9 times so far and have loved it! Kept me dry in the rain a few times, and feels spacious for a 2-person tent. The colors are super fun and I love the attachments for the rain fly - the buckles make it super easy to take on & off. I'm 5,9" and love that there's enough space by my feet for a few items or small pack. It's been my go-to since I got it in the spring!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This tent is extremely durable and waterproof. I have used it over 100 nights, and it kept me dry through all kinds of extreme storms! Not the lightest on the market but more durable than lighter weight tents.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great tent. Used it for a week camping in the Adirondack mountains
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my 3rd Tungsten: 4p, 3p, and now the 2p There’s a lot to love about Marmot tents, but the Tungsten is something special! Idk what it is, but every time I buy one, I fall in love with it even more; and I keep find more room than I need! Hence the constant downsize. Started with the 4p, because I have always struggled with tents not being big enough for guests to enjoy the experience. The vestibules just added so much extra space that the extra room was TOTALLY unnecessary! That’s when I downsides to the 3p. Much better for 2 people and a dog, but I still found I to be too much for the majority of my camping. Now I’m settled in happily with my 2p, and I think it’s my “Forever Tent” 🥰 Only took a little testing, Goldilocks Style 👧🐻🐻❄️🧸⛺️
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This tent (tungsten 2p) is bulletproof. It’s been through the ADK’s , the Whites in NH, the Great Smokies, and everywhere in between. I split the weight up with my wife, and at around 2lbs each, (.9kg) you won’t find a more durable, reliable piece of equipment worth that weight in your pack. Flash snow storms in may, high wind storms at elevation, and torrential downpours in the ADK’s. I’ve never had a drop of water in it once, and the hardware has held up better than anything I’ve ever owned. Great gear as always!!
As I write, it is 2024. I have had the tent since 2016. I use it as a 1-person tent. I average about 45 days a year in this tent. It is not uncommon for me to pitch it, and leave it set-up, for 14 days at a time...this long UV-exposure use is hard on tents. I have had zero problems with the tent. Never got wet, never blown away, no repairs, zippers are still 100%. It is, of course, pretty darn snug if used by two people...but, that's the nature of 2-person backpacking tents, regardless of make/model.
