I've hiked about 13mi with this pack so far including a 13er and it's great! I love the color, the wide hip belt, and Gregorys hydration system. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is that I wish the back panel was adjustable like Osprey. Otherwise I think it's perfect
I have been using the Gregory Women's Jade 24 LT Pack since August 2024 and it is one of the best day packs I have ever used. The pack has a lightweight frame that adds support and my back and shoulders no longer hurt after a long hike. The pockets are perfect. I am able to fit my phone in the hip belt pockets, which is really convenient for photos. The side pockets fit massive water bottles and it is hydration bladder compatible. I like the yellow color. I am 5'2" and the pack works for me.
I bought the Jade 24 to replace a Maya 25 that I had come to hate. The Jade 24 is a streamlined, simple pack, the type of Gregory pack I used to have in the past. This capacity, 24 L does require an internal frame. The Maya 25 doesn't have an internal frame and if the pack isn't full (sometimes hikes don't require a full pack), it will flop like crazy, and it's hard to fill. Even if the Jade 24 doesn't completely stand on its own, at least it will not fold itself in half when not full and when trying to fill it or rest it on the ground. The Jade 24 zippers are easy to access and aren't covered by the side straps of the pack, something that drove me crazy with the Maya 25 because it required a lot of fiddling to grab the zipper ends, often ending up opening the water pouch compartment. I like the Jade 24 zippered front pocket because it's much easier to use unlike the mesh of some other packs like the Maya 25 or even Jade 28 that I have. Things always get caught in the mesh and I hated that buckle to secure the mesh. The Jade 24 has a narrow profile and is a classic pack. It's comfortable and well-made. I had to inspect it carefully because the Maya 25 had several factory defects that I discovered later on. Also, the pockets of the Jade 24 are large enough for a bottle of water (quart), and the size of those pockets is perfect to secure the bottles well. The size of the Maya 25 pockets were twice larger causing the bottles to not stay steady during the hike. I'm glad Gregory returned to the right formula for this type of packs.
So happy to have purchased the Gregory Jade 25 L Backpack. I needed a smaller pack to meet the requirements for traveling in Peru for the Inca Trail and Macha Picchu. Gregory has an excellent comfort and fit for multi day and extended treks. I have found the airflow on the back is above the average. I like the zipped easy access on the front of the Gregory compared to just an opening. The hooks for hiking poles, and other loops to customize are handy. The bladder sleeve and hook is designed for Gregory easy hook support, but other bladders can work as well. I like that I can actually fit my cell phone inside the waist belt pocket, which is something you cannot do with the osprey backpack this size. Would recommend. This backpack does not have an adjustable torso, so try on for size. I am 5’7” and it was perfect.
I was so excited about this pack. Overall good quality & storage capacity and my iPhone fit in the hip belt pocket. Unfortunately, once I added a bit of weight to it and went for a hike, the bottom of the frame bruised my hip/upper glute. Granted I am more on the petite side, but I've never had a pack frame hurt me like that.
I bought this pack to replace a Maya 25 that I had come to hate. I'm glad to see that the Jade 24 is a simple pack, streamlined like the old Gregory packs I had in the past, and that I loved. I found that for 24 Liters, an internal frame is needed. The 25L Maya didn't have an internal frame and if the pack wasn't full, then it would flop when set on the ground. The Jade stands, that is, when the pack doesn't need to be full because of a hike requirements, the pack stands on its own. Also, the zippers are easy to access . It wasn't the case with the Maya 25 because the zippers were covered by the side straps and it drove me crazy. Perhaps one doesn't pay much attention to this at first, but eventually all the negative details drive a user really crazy! The Jade is basically a very simple pack, easy to use and comfortable with a narrow profile. The pocket mesh are solid, and not floppy like those of the Maya 25. The lack of an internal frame is ok for smaller packs like the Maya 16 that I love, but not for a larger pack. I like the front zippered pocket of the Jade 24.. It's much more useful the mesh pocket found on the Maya 25 and also on the Jade 28 that I also have. The Jade 24 is the type of pack I like, simple, sturdy, well-made and comfortable. Finding a pack this size wasn't easy for me, and I'm glad Gregory found the right formula.
ions and in different environments! Biggest con is that the main compartment is too small, mainly because the back frame is so curved (I guess that's where the good ventilation comes from, but it's too unnecessarily curved), fitting clothes is fine but when you add a laptop or just a small camera or a book, it's so hard to fit other things or take things out. Other 24l packs might feel a bit roomier than this one I think. Back frame is also not adjustable, which is fine for a day pack I guess, but something to note if that's what you're expecting. Outermost front pocket has a vertical zipper which makes things fall out every time I unzip or need to take one thing out, it also takes away more space from the already-small main compartment. No rain pocket or rain cover included. And the most annoying thing that I didn't think would bother me so much is that this bag would never stand upright no matter how much weight you put inside or how you position the pack. Maybe it'll work for some people but for me, it's sadly will be given to Resupply because I've already given it multiple uses to try and make it work but it annoyed me every single time...
This backpack is excellent. It’s well-made and very sturdy. It has a back support that goes around you and a comfortable fit when you put it on. Several separate compartments which not too much to let you find your stuff. It is not too wide but just fits and is easy to walk without hitting the sides, I have walked in the small shops, cafes without any accident to hit the other customers or the shelf. I have walked the Camino with this backpack for 15 days. Tt is also be carried on in any European airlines.
My wife and I have been sharing this daypack for 6 months and we like it! My torso is 17.5", hers is 18.5", sizes 2 and 8, and it fits us both well enough with adjustments to straps and load lifters. It's a good size to hold layers, first aid/emergency supplies, snacks etc for 2 people doing 3 season day hiking in the Northeast, without being big enough to overpack and carry too much. The back panel and hip belts are comfortable and secure. The stretchy mesh side pockets are a good size for water bottles and things that can be shoved in like rain jackets. The hip belt pockets are a little small, but then again, this is a daypack not an overnight pack, so I am glad they are there at all; they are a decent size to fit small things, snacks, wrappers (and technically, my iphone 13 pro fits, but I prefer to carry elsewhere rather than squeeze it in and out). Material is durable and water resistant, though I line with a dry bag if expecting significant rain, which works well since the bag is essentially one big compartment. I don't use water bladders so can't comment on that. Only small gripe is that when you take it off, it does not stay upright, as others have mentioned, so be ready for that.
This pack survived brief heavy rain in the Grand Canyon - very little moisture reaching the inside. The adjustable straps made it nice to shift weight to/from hips and shoulders. The vertical zippered pocket allowed for quick stuffing/access. My trekking poles stored nicely in the side pocket. I was able to get them in/out without removing the pack. The waist pockets barely fit an iPhone.
