Smartwool  Cozy Mittens

As a seamstress I know how important it is to have the thumb of a mitten attached in a fashion where there’s a right or left mitten. If you try to make them ambidextrous, they won’t fit. The entire mitten twist to accommodate for the way the thumb is attached. I blame myself for not noticing the poor construction but buying anything from a photo can be difficult. Don’t waste your money on these.

I bought these as a replacement for the same mittens that I purchased ~6 years ago that I loved so much! (time wore a hole through them and one got lost). these are similar, but the fit is a little off from what it used to be. the thumb is long and loose, compared to a previously more tailored fit, and the stitching is much poorer craftsmanship. In fact, I bought the same pair for my husband and he wore them once while walking the dog and there is already a hole in the top of the fingers along the seam. I'm slightly disappointed, but am unable to find a comparable mitten from other retailers, so I'll be sticking with these.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received a pair of these last year as a gift and LOVED them, sadly that pair got lost and the replacement pair I purchased just isn't the same as the original. They are the same style and say they are the same color, but the color is different - more white/grey than black/grey, they fit a bit differently and don't feel as durable. The color is also different than what is shown online. While I am pretty bummed, I'm sure I will learn to love them in time. They do, however, work great for short periods outside in frigid Minnesota winters!! #sweepstakes

I love these mittens. They are my second pair and I forgot how smooth and lovely they are when new. The purple color is beautiful. They wear well for many seasons. I am a big kitten wearer since my hands and feet get so chilly and I highly recommend these for commuting or on a night out. They are small enough to put in a small purse for the day or night but make a huge difference for warmth in New England winters.

I bought these mittens to replace an older pair of Smartwool wool mittens that I recently lost. I went to their website and admittedly hastily purchased a new pair without reading the details. The new ones are made from a mediocre wool-synthetic blend material that bears no resemblance to the soft wool used previously. So disappointing. Would have given 1 star, but it was my fault for not reading more closely.

These are very cute mittens - very soft and feels nice when using them. Usually just wear them while walking, often pushing a stroller. I bought because another review from Minneapolis said they were warm enough for MN, but today (Nov 30) they definitely weren't warm enough. There's no way we'll survive January and February! If I lived in a state a bit warmer, I'd totally love them!

I bought these to wear while walking in the winter. They are a good weight for this semi-active activity. They would not be warm enough for extended, inactive periods in the cold, but that is expected based. They look just like the picture and are exactly what I was expecting. I would say I have average sized hands and the S/M fit me perfectly. #SmartwoolLove

I've had two previous versions of this mitten and loved them but these are different than former models. The thumb and overall hand/finger length is bizarrely long. The color isn't quite what it used to be either (more light grey in the mix). I've been wearing them but they are disappointing and wish I had bought more of the old ones.

I had gotten a pair of these as a gift last Christmas and LOVED them!!!! Sadly I lost them and had to order a new pair this year and they are just not the same quality or color as the last ones. They look slightly different than what is pictured online. I'm sure I will learn to love them in time but I am a bit bummed!!

These are not the mittens they used to be. They were purchased to replace a pair I bought last year (lost one) and they look and feel entirely different. If you don't have a point for comparison you might like them but I was deeply disappointed.
