Brooks  Canopy Packable Jacket - Men's

Incredibly light-weight. At 6oz, it's less than half the weight of my Eddie Bauer rain jacket. That makes it perfect for long runs and carrying in my hydration pack. The jacket tucks into the hand pockets with room to spare (it crushes down even flatter when compressed in my Nathan pack). I am 5'11, 164, and the medium fits great with good arm and torso length. The arms land right between my palm and wrist, and the waist lands just below my belt line. It doesn't bunch up on my arms and doesn't hit my legs when running (or bounce). Although it is an athletic fit, I can wear it over my wool base layer with room to spare. Cool feature: there is an elastic flap in the brim of the hood that stretches over the bill of a baseball hat. This keeps the hood in place in the wind without compromising head movement or lateral visibility. I read somewhere that older versions of this jacket had two snaps in the front to hold the jacket closed when unzipped (for ventilation). This model does not have that feature. If I get that warm, I might as well take it off, so it's not something I care about, but some people might Haven't tried it in the rain yet, but other reviews I've read seem to indicate it has decent water shedding in light rain or heavy mist.

Very disappointing quality. The jacket has a hard plastic piece in the hood that rubbed against the fabric and pierced a hole after only two weeks of normal wear. This appears to be a poor design choice, as the material is unable to withstand contact with the plastic component. I expected much better durability from Brooks.
