So close to awesome
I almost loved these shoes. I've been looking for a replacement for technical ultra running since VJ Shoes closed all their U.S. stores. The TrailFly wides feel great at first. The grip is quite nice. They are snug and have ground that makes me run tech with confidence. Around mile 10 though, I experience heel rub while hiking/running uphill. My first run in these shoes was 28 miles, and I stopped a few times to readjust my sock. I didn't get blisters or wounds, but I'm confident I would have if I hadn''t stopped. Yesterday I ran 9 miles in these shoes, and I had to stop running uphill due to how bad the heel rub was. When I got home I did a thorough inspection of the heel, and you can clearly feel where there's a break in the shoe construction that is a nightmare for flesh, socks be damned. I understand that not all shoes are ultra shoes, but any trail shoe should get a middle pack runner through a 50k or less without issue. I wouldn't wear these without taping, and that shouldn't be necessary at the start of a run. The search continues for me, because these are not it.
