Bike and Hike

Using as a bicycle trail riding shoe and hiking shoe. The quality is excellent, and the fit is perfect. They're comfortable, and best of all there's no memory foam insert. They have a real one. So far they seem to ventilate well, but the weather isn't hot yet. Couldn't be more satisfied!

The perfect boot... except for durability :(

I went on two early season backpacking trips in other boots, and my feet got BEAT UP. Then I purchased these, and on the very first backpacking trip I did 25 miles. Right out of the box, these felt incredible - like I was wearing slippers. Plus, no hotspots or blisters! They are perfect for me - great grip on all surfaces (so far), effective waterproofness, wider toe box for comfort, no heel lift, lightweight, not too warm despite the waterproofing. I recommended them to many people! Then... after about 40 miles total... the stitching on one side of the ball of the foot area totally unstitched. So, now there's a gaping (about 1.5 inch long) hole in the side of the boot. And, I can now see inside to the waterproof bootie, and there's also a hole that has worn on the side of that! (It still hasn't penetrated fully through the Gore Tex, but still...) This was SOOOOO disappointing. I wish they lasted. Now I'm not sure what to do. So... if my pair is a fluke, I highly recommend these because they are functionally incredible. But, if the stitching issue is a widespread thing... I can't recommend them at all, unfortunately. Luckily, REI's return policy is great, so you could try you luck with these and hopefully it works for you!

Back-up boots.

Replacing synthetic pair that I wore out. Price was right. True to size.
