Great Warm Vest
This vest is extremely comfortable out of the packaging and softens up or wears in great as you use it. I was comfortable with a thin 1/4 zip base layer for much of the fall time. Once it got colder I needed to bump up from a baselayer to more substantial shirt, but the vest stayed. I did get warm in it once but unzip, just like any other vest and you're fine then when you cool down zip it back up. I did not notice any odors coming from the vest either from the factory or after much use. I can't say for sure longer term but the short time I've had it there has been no noticeable smells. The fit of the vest is spot on. I'm 5'11' 175lbs and the large fits me spot on. The fabric color is not a solid black but like a second cut Grey. The pockets are good as well 2 hand pockets, 1 left chest pocket. I have taken this to the range and the mountains of NC and WV. It's perfect for traveling early im the morning where its cold now. but the temp will warm up. It has certainly become a go to this year for an outerwear piece.
Best thing I bought this winter!
My husband bought the vest in navy earlier this winter. He has worn it every day. I ordered another one in charcoal online for him. So now he has two. Can't say enough about how much he likes the vests. Thank you, Smartwool!
Great vest for every day use.
Bought this for hiking in the Colorado mountains, early in the morning works great. Fit is good and even though it will keep you warm it still breathes nicely. Worth every penny
My new favorite
I am addicted to SmartWool, with this vest being my most recent addition to the wardrobe. I am 5'10" and 160 pounds, with a 33" waist. When I started building up my wardrobe, I was heavier, so most all of my other SmartWool is bigger sizes. In this vest, and another top I purchased at the same time, my recommended size was Medium. The product model for this vest is 6'2" with a 34" waist, so I trusted the recommendation and got the Medium. I am glad I did, because the vest fits great. Had I gone with a large, as I originally planned, it would have been too big on me. As-is, the vest has enough room that it is not snug, but also is slim enough to be both comfortable and stylish and not just hang on me. I have not had it very long, but in casual wear around town it is great. The weather had just started to heat up, when the vest arrived, so I have not had a ton of opportunities to wear the vest. But I am looking forward to some cool evenings to get some more opportunities. If you are looking for a comfortable and stylish vest, this is the one you need. Just trust their sizing recommendations, like I did, and you won't be disappointed.
