These were true to size and seemed like they could be a decent boot, but as soon as I saw the lace hook was plastic, I knew I would be returning them. And the plastic was surprising because the description said metallic hardware. And I also check to make sure the lace hooks are metal, not plastic. Maybe they meant metallic looking?

These are my first hiking boots and I did a lot of research and tried on a lot of boots to find the right ones. They broke in really easily and are really comfortable for long hikes. The height supports my ankles and prevents them from rolling on uneven terrain and the grip is pretty good! One star removed because my feet slipped into a river and my feet were damp, so I suppose not fully waterproof but close!

Comfortable out the box! I loved the MQM mid boots and put over 400 miles on them and was hoping to buy a new pair but they are no longer being made :(. These are similar in weight and construction and almost as comfortable. I’ve tried the Moabs and find them to be a little too heavy and not as comfortable as the synthetic boots. Wore these on a 9 mile hike without doing any break in and had no real issues. I would recommend wearing mid rise socks to protect from some chafing at the boot top.

These boots hiked Machu Picchu within days of me slightly breaking them in and served me well during my three-week trek through South America. Super comfortable from day one and was not sick of wearing them when I returned home. Great purchase.

These shoes are much warmer than I expected. My feet felt hot in a store. I honestly can’t imagine wearing them in summer or during hikes in the mountains — they would be too warm. The outsole is also quite slippery on ice, which was disappointing considering they are marketed as outdoor / winter-friendly shoes. After about a one-hour walk, my feet felt tired, especially because of the high collar. The mid-height design puts pressure around the ankles and becomes uncomfortable over time. Overall, they might work for short walks in cold weather, but they were not a good fit for my needs.

I own many, many pairs of Merrell shoes, and most of them are very comfortable. However, I have never worn anything as comfortable as these. I have problem feet and always had blister issues with hiking boots, but I didn't even think about my feet for an entire day of hiking and walking in the mountains. I just ordered a second pair for backup. The only thing is that I had to order 1/2 size larger because they run small. I usually wear 9.5 M, but the 10 M is perfect. I NEVER thought I'd find hiking boots that I could wear comfortably. These boots are a dream come true!!!!!

I bought these because I will be in Germany outside during winter and needed something warm and waterproof. I bought this model specifically because they are vegan friendly, and I don’t buy anything made of leather. I’ve been wearing these all winter and they are the best hiking and walking boot I’ve ever had. They were comfortable from day 1, very warm, even down into the teens, and they seem very waterproof as well. I wholeheartedly recommend them. I’m only going to buy Merrells from now on - I love all my various Merrell shoes.
