Evolv Shaman Trace — Review I owned the second Shaman's and kind of liked them, but they were a bit too stiff/rigid for me. After a couple of Italian-made shoes that fit more sock-like, I was hoping Evolv had something that matched that feel. Voilà — the Trace. I think it's the perfect middle ground between the stiffer earlier Shamans I owned and something more forgiving. They're gentler on my feet while still snug as a bug. I ordered them in the same size as my previous Evolvs. I love the sticky rubber — great for toe and heel hooks in the gym. And not unimportant: they look the part too.
I haven’t tried a stiff shoe before but I was pleasantly surprised by how nice this one feels. The fit is absolutely perfect, it’s pretty much a sock when it comes to fit and I love it. It works really well messing around on boulders and especially in lead. Overall it’s a really nice shoe and I have no complaints when it comes to bouldering I still feel it can compete well with soft shoes and it surely shines in lead.
Exactly the shoe I was looking for! Pair these with the Phantom Pros and you have everything you will ever need. The trance has a bit more stiffness and confidence or more verticle edges.
