Great upgrade, fast recharge

I have some experience with Goal Zero gear, I regularly use a 1400, a 3000 X (with expansion tanks), a 500, and have ranger panels and nomad panels. The new 1500 so far has been flawless, honestly it’s what the 4000 should be but was not for me so I actually returned that last year, too many bugs. I have tested the new 1500 around the house and a little bit outdoors, I have run my Starlink and a full-size refrigerator for over 24 hours without issue and power to spare. I have hooked up 700 total watts of solar using 8 mm and HPP port simultaneously without issue, getting about 60% output during relatively less sunny Arizona winter days. The unit is definitely a little heavier than my old 1400. My 1400 which is about 10 years old is around 50 pounds, the 1500 is around 54 pounds. For reference sake, my 3000 X is 69 pounds and I use that as my main APS/backup and it has the nice wheeled roller cart. If you have back problems, be careful with hefting this one around, that probably goes for anything over 50 pounds. The ports and panels are great, everything works, I like the LED lights on the port when you open up an access panel, nice touch. The app, connectivity, remote control has been excellent so far, similar to my other modern units. Probably the most impressive thing in my opinion is that plugged into a regular 110 V outlet, this unit will charge up from 0% to 100% in about 70 minutes. Soon, I will take it out into the desert and see how it does with Overlanding. I have high hopes because the description says it is a bit more roadworthy, tough, water resistant, and has as many cycles as you can put it through.

Yeti-1500 - Well Done - Great System

THIS IS THE BEST POWER STATION THEY HAVE EVERY MADE. IT’S EXCELLENT, at least for the things I use it for. This is a 5-Star system. I recommend it. I am not making that statement lightly. I have done several reviews of Goal Zero power stations over the years, and those reviews have not always been favorable. I call it as I see it. The Yeti 1500 Gen 6 is a new product with new advanced features, and this review will treat it a such. I am not reviewing their phone application or related topics. Some comparisons will be made to the Yeti 1500X only to facilitate understanding of the differences between the products. The 6th Generation Yeti 1500 has all the upgraded features I were hoping for. You can read the specifications. They kept the best features of the Yeti 1500X and brought in the best features of the Yeti 4000 Pro. These include enhanced USB-C PD ports, built-in rapid charging from AC power source, improved Yeti user interface, expanded solar input to 900 watts using both the HPP and 8 mm input ports simultaneously, retention of the Anderson Power Pole HPP 30-amp output, and IPX4 rating. The battery pack was changed from Li-onNMC to LiFePO4 allowing for longer battery life and more charging cycles. The battery capacity remains around 1500 watts. The most remarkable feature of the new Yeti 1500 is the steady, predictable power output. Goal Zero got the algorithms right. You can depend on the time remaining estimates – there is no energy “cliff” at say 25% or 15% capacity. My unit just kept delivering in every test. These upgraded features do come with a cost – the 1500 G6 is 32% larger in volume and weighs about 53 pounds - 7 pounds heavier than the Yeti 1500X. The increased weight will be hard for many people to manage. I could manage it, just. GZ needs to offer an integrated “cart or roller” system like the one which comes with the Yeti-4000 Pro. This accessory is essential. I use this unit for home emergency power backup and amateur radio station power in the field and at home. HERE ARE MY TESTNG NOTES: 1. Set up, pairing to the iPhone and registration are easy. User Manual is well done. 2. Super-fast charging works well. Solar charging and DC to DC charging works well. 3. Stress Test: Stress tested Yeti 1500 in “Performance Mode” using an electric heater drawing about 750 watts. The Yeti delivered AC power steady power for 1 hour and 45 minutes, from 100% to 5% of battery capacity. There was no energy “cllff” at 20% or 15% capacity that I have experienced with other battery systems. 4. Refrigerator test - Full sized but basic refrigerator /freezer located in an attached garage. The Yeti 1500 in performance mode ran the refrigerator for 39 hours. From 100% to 12% capacity. By comparison the Yeti 1500X lasted 20 hours in a similar test and conditions. 5. Yeti 1500 will run any appliance in our kitchen. 6. Field Test: In a “field” setting the dual solar input works well. The display screen is bight and easy to read even in strong sunlight. The unit runs everything I need, radios, Starlink, computers, and appliances. My field test used 2-Ranger 300 and 1 Nomad 100 solar panels. I was getting 30%-50% efficiency on the panels – not bad for winter sun and partly cloudy sky.

Upgrading After 9 Years of Faithful Service

Just purchased the New Yeti 1500 to replace our almost 10 year old Goal Zero Yeti 1250. Our old Yeti silently collected the sun and brewed many hundreds of cups of coffee in the middle of nowhere (6 miles from the nearest paved road in upstate New York) as well as running the travel fridge at weekends and charging devices. We're so happy to have snagged an early release of this new Yeti 1500 as its so much lighter than the Yeti 1250 as well as having more power and really fast charging on those days when we've used too much solar charged power and have to run the generator. The new 1500 will also power a microwave so that will save cooking time and some propane for the stove. This unit adds to our collection of Goal Zero devices that have proved to be reliable and dependable over our 10 years of being loyal Goal Zero customers.

Great Upgrade!

I bought the new Yeti 1500 LiFePO₄ a couple weeks ago. My initial impression: The product is a great upgrade. Faster charging with builtin A/C charger (not sure why GZ decided to go with a C19 power cord rather than the C13 on the other GZ models, but it works well). Solar charging seems faster (more efficient) than the 1500x. The 140w PD USB-C port charges my Dell laptop flawlessly. Port lights are a welcome addition when using the Yeti at night. Weight is a good balance of capacity and portability. Build feels solid. I recommend this product.

Knocked it out of the park with Yeti 1500!

Yeti 1500 checks all the boxes. A beast and a beauty. Quick charge, enough ports, powerful, and has longevity. Have 1000X, 1500X, and Yeti 700. New Yeti 1500 has zero flaws. Everything works as advertised.

Jackpot

I have been wanting something like this for years, originally I thought I would end up buying a small gas power generator. But this thing gets the job done with ease! For its size and weight this thing really packs a punch, it certainly has more power than any small gas generator could ever hope of producing! My goal was to have a road trip/camping companion. I wanted to be able to run my large electric freezer/fridge combination ice chest, & a small air fryer, or my small air compressor, at any time, or place that I happen to be parked, camping, lost, or mid adventure. This yeti 1500 checks all the boxes. It says it can be used as a home back up, and I believe it! I tested it out just for fun, it will run a family size air fryer without even blinking. I really like the way Goal Zero has updated the port covers. Now you can flip them up, and they stay up and out of the way! I also really like the port lights!

Thoughtfully engineered hardware

The hardware for this thing is amazing striking the right balance between features and compactness. I highly recommend this product. Why the four stars? Well, at the time of writing this, the software is still in beta (0.3.1) so I’m not sure if the behavior I tested is aligned with what might be the final version. Everything works as you’d expect except for one particular thing related to the slow charging selector switch on the back. The scenario in question is you’re drawing a +1000W intermittent load and have it plugged into the wall and selected slow charging. The expected behavior is that slow charging would draw a sub 1000W from the power source (wall outlet). This is useful so that way you don’t overload the power source the Yeti is plugged into. For loads over 1000W the Yeti does NOT respect the slow charging selector switch. It recharges as fast as possible. In my particular case because of the other loads I had on the circuit in the house, it tripped the breaker and resulted in the Yeti powering my load without it recharging. I believe this can be addressed with software, and if so I’ll be happy to update to 5 stars. Literally everything about the hardware of this machine is tremendously engineered and very thoughtful… There are even little LED lights near the plugs in the back so it makes it easy to plug into the needed cables! Very thoughtfully engineered.
