Nice hat but doesn't last
This hat has been great for walking and driving around town since the sun is so hot in Southern Arizona. However, after only three months the back stitches came out so the neck cape no longer stays on, which defeats the whole purpose of this hat for me. I can sew it back together, but it's disappointing that the quality doesn't last up to its promise.
Super-versatile folding cap for hours in the sun
Have worn all over the Indo-Pacific islands. Excellent sun block, and also super-convenient - can fold and fit in your packet. Simple quick-tightening when the wind picks up. Stays on even in speeding boats. And fits my large head! Highly recommended for adventure travel in the sun.
So Comfortable!!
I was gifted with the sun guide cap for my expedition to Mount Kilimanjaro and I was so impressed by the comfort level of the cap. I wore it with the neck cape and without and both times it is so soft and comfortable to wear and so easy to unjust the sizing. Even on windy days with the neck cape, the cap is secure. Very impressed!!
Snap fell of after few uses and I’ve been gentle
Good cap the best i had but the snap fell off just after couple uses It’s the second hat it happens to me with Very disappointing cause I can’t rely on it when im outside for few days
I developed a treatable skin cancer, and now must wear full protection whenever I am out in the So Cal sun. My go-to has been the Adventure Hat, and I do love it. But I also wanted something different on the hat rack. This hat is super comfortable (light and cool) as well as versatile. Great for driving too as the smaller bill works better in the car. They really thought of everything here, with the options for the neck cape, flaps for the vents, and foldable bill. Love it. Because the brim isn't as large as the Adventure Hat, I do get more sun on the lower part of my face, but closing the cape is always an option. Great hat.
Awesome hat but one flaw.
This is my go to hat when it is hot and sunny outside. Literally, this hat Is the only hat I trust to keep the sun off of me. However, it has one major flaw. In the back above the adjustable strap is there is a hole there that exposes the back of your head to the full sun. Not a big deal to you folks that have hair, but for a bald man it has to be modified. I have purchased three of these hats, and everyone of them I have to get my thread and needle and sew up the backend I would give this hat five stars, except for the fact that I have to modify it a little bit. I don’t know why they left a little patch in the back where someone like me could get severely sunburned.
Effective Sunblock
The cap is light & comfortable. Based on the lack of rash outbreak on my neck (photosensitivity), the fabric is effective sunblock = YEAH :-). My only complaint is that the sizing strap on the back slips. Prior to purchase, I communicated with Sunday Afternoons about the cap sizing (small head - contrary to what ex-wife says... :-) ). From the communications, I knew the small would be too big. But I hoped with the sizing strap fully pulled in, the cap would fit properly. It does. However, the strap slips; resulting in me having to pull it in a few times while wearing. Other than that, the cap is just what I need.
Sun Breaker Cap
I am so impressed with this cap. Use it to work in hot Texas sun with > 100 F degree temperatures. Prior hats fell off, covered poorly, and didn't provide thorough coverage. This cap does. My skin can still be called "fair" and not "boiling lobster". In addition to all the forementioned wonderfulness, the cap is so incredibly cool. Overheating under protective layers is something that causes me to take off the layers, that didnt happen with this cap. I plan to purchase more so that i have one available while others are either washing or being used for trips to store/park/events/etc.
I bought an original guide hat from a flea market many years ago and it finally wore out with holes on the top maybe due to washing it the washing machine. A few years ago I bought this newer version and like it also although I wish the neck covering would not hang down so low. The original did not hang this low. I'm buying another one now because I like the style and the removable snap covering. I also like the snap style closing around your face when wearing it. Thus you are pretty much covered up without extra material as in some other brands with a 360 degree covering around your head.
Folding seam wears out quickly
I've had three of these over the last 2-3 years. I actually like the hat but... problem is that the folding seam wears out in 6-8 mos. Seam tape gets a hole and fabric wears through. This is an expensive hat for such a short lifetime. I'm unable to attach photos from my iMac, FYI.
