So close to a 5-star product
This bag would be a 5 Star product if it had two key design features and a third feature as a potential improvement. As background, I just completed a sailboat delivery from Newport to Bermuda and the bag was perfect for the amount of gear, no hard edges/corners and a rugged construction to take an honest beating during the trip. The two design features which I'm kind of surprised were missed, revolve around the bags size. At 70L the bag is too big as a carry-on luggage (for flight home), so it must be checked. Missed feature one: no integrated name tag. Feature two: no TSA lock. I managed a work around for both, but seems like a no-brainer that these two features would have been included in this size (and the larger) bag. The one feature which would vastly improve the bag, again revolves around checking the bag, is quick release shoulder straps so you can stow them inside the bag. Baggage handers aren't known for their careful handling of luggage and to be able to stow the shoulder straps would be great. Struggling to rethread the standard adjustable strap connects isn't something you want to be doing at the baggage carousel after a flight and just wanting to get home. Again, this would be a 5-star bag with attention to a few details, but otherwise the bag is excellent, the shoulder straps are comfortable, the construction rugged, heavy duty zipper, and it can be packed full for a week or two-week sailing trip. Well worth the money.
