This feels less spacious than my old 28L quasar due to the separate laptop pouch. I would prefer if the laptop pouch was integrated into the main compartment so that when the laptop bit is not in use you can get more kit into the bag. But, due to the separate compartment, you lose out on space in the main compartment. Only had a few weeks but time will tell if this proves to be an issue as i have used my old quasar to carry shoes, food, helmet and harness in the past before but i don’t think i’ll be able to get that same kit into this 32l (bigger than old 28l quasar) nebula rucksack
Purchased a lovely teal/dark blue Nebula 5 and been happy with it ever since. It's super spacious and works great for taking all my work equipment with, groceries when I cycle to the shops or anything else I need. Doesn't look massive, but offers plenty of room. Very comfortable to wear too.
The Nebula has one bad flaw and one awful flaw. Amazingly these flaws interact with each other to create a fatal flaw. The bad flaw is that, unlike every other major compartment on any other day pack in the universe (including the other compartments on the nebula itself), the outer compartment has only one zipper pull. This means that you have to completely unzip it to open the compartment, and completely zip it to close it. You can't position both pulls at the top of the compartment and unzip it partially. This is one of the dumbest flaws imaginable insofar as it will be unspeakably easy to correct. It's a great backpack and other respects. But that's like saying you've a great car that has square wheels.
Somehow this pack has more volume than my previous Swissgear backpack but it is half the weight. The chest strap being adjustable along built in rails on the shoulder strap is a killer feature. Even when packed to the brim, the profile is slim with the side straps pulling in the outer section so the weight isn’t pulling you in the wrong direction. It is very comfortable for an all day trek or commute. The only things I’d change are a little wider opening ability for the large main pocket and the canteen straps are too low, though I haven’t had any canteens spill out since the stretch pocket is great. Special shout out to the stuff sack in the front where I can store my packable down jacket without taking up space inside.
I had a Talon bag for over 15years, and was using it while in the military, it was the best backpack in my life so far. I had to have it replaced and Osprey said this was the closest to it. I have had the bag now for several months and it is NO Where near as good, can’t fit things inside the backpack it has more pockets outside than space inside. This bag is terrible for people that need a little space for things inside. It might be good for little knickknacks and small items but is the worst to really try to carry things that you need for a truly, full day.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The style and functionality of the bag is great and I wanted it to work out so bad. The location of the upper clips became a nuisance and I couldn’t hide them like other Nebula I have owned for 5 years. I even thought of cutting them off, but they are incorporated into the bag and assist with attaching the outer pocket to the rest of the backpack . Every time I would need to access the bag the clips were in the way. I had to return the bag and looking for another one. Love your product and will continue to purchase them, this bag just didn’t work for me.
I really like the Nebula 32... it's got all the pockets you need and is great size for the office or a weekend trip. However, I don't understand the thought behind the shoulder straps... there is stark white foam that shows brightly through the blue (in my case) mesh that goes up and down the strap. Unfortunately, I can't help but feel like this was a design oversight. I see the white foam out of the corner of my eyes every time I turn my head... it's not a good look. To me, it looks cheap. Your mileage may vary. There is also a large piece of white foam on the rear of the pack to support a person's back... still not great, but it's at least hidden while wearing the backpack. In my case, the white foam is too distracting and I'm returning the bag. I'm bummed. Sorry, Osprey. :(
This bad does have some nice features with a good selection of pockets and compartments. However the addition of the straps to hold the front compartment in place make this bag very difficult use and adjust. If you dont use them the front compartment just flops around. Not sure why they have done this as on other bags the front compartment attaches on front of bagand the straps don't obstruct the zip. This makes the bag harder to use and less accessible. The fit is also not great, not really made for men
I have a couple of other packs in the 30-32l range, but in my first few weeks I've found the Nebula has exceptional real world "effective" volume. The compartments are large, flat and rectangular, meaning that they work great with packing cubes and there's a lot of corner and edge volume available versus more rounded packs. I'm also regularly running to the office with it and - whilst clearly not a specialist running pack - it' doing a great job for a running commute. Really impressive.
