Ive never paid this amount for a rucksack before - but this has been so worth it. Did 3 days hiking in snowdonia with it and I couldn’t be happier - this is the first backpack ive had that hasnt at some point given low back or hip ache- the fit was perfect and so happy that i could shorten the back length to fit me - at barely over 5’3” tall it has always been a struggle to get a good fit until now. Plus with the waterproof rating everything was super dry when caught out in rain and the compartments were plentiful too.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great pack. My only complaint is that the side pockets are really hard to zip and unzip while you are wearing it. Love that osprey made a waterproof bag that is actually comfortable and functional - great for my work on the river and day hikes. Next step, make it submersible!
I highly recommend this daypack. The feature that initially captured my attention was the IPX5-rated waterproof compartment, particularly noteworthy given that many other reputable hiking brands have claimed to offer waterproof capabilities but have not withstood the severe rainfall often pummelled into the bag by the hash winds which are typical of the Cornish coast. Although I have not yet had the opportunity to test this pack on hiking trails due to health issues, it has proven to be a comfortable and spacious solution for my needs as a hospital bag. Despite experiencing osteomyelitis (a bone infection) in my coccyx, I found it manageable to carry this bag while filled with clothing and essentials necessary for an extended hospital stay and transfers. Although stubbornly independent when I was unable to be the ambulance crews and hospital porters who took my bag for me, gave many a compliment on how comfortable and effortless it was to carry such a hefty weight. My objective for the 34-litre model is to use it as a walk leader along the South West Coast Path. I require a bag that offers sufficient support while accommodating additional equipment, first aid kits, and water bottles, and this product excels in that regard. The colour is accurate to the online depiction, which may seem minor, but I have frequently encountered disappointment with the hues of items from other prominent companies upon delivery. The product was well packaged and delivery time was excellent. I also found the compartments to be highly functional, along with the overall simplicity of the design. There is nothing more frustrating than contorting or rummaging through the bag to locate an item or having to stop and empty all contents from every compartment to find what is needed. The distribution of storage compartments and their arrangement appears to have been thoughtfully considered during the design phase. I look forward to recovering from the bone infection so that I can fully utilise this pack on what I consider to be the most stunning section of the National Trail, the South West Coast Path. I have been so impressed with this daypack that today I came back to not only leave a review but also to order the Downburst 24 for excursions when I am not leading group walks, enabling me to explore the moorlands and coast of Cornwall with my partner and our dog, regardless of adverse weather conditions, I did not bother shopping around for a smaller capacity bag, as I knew without a shadow of doubt nothing would come close to the Downburst for me!
