Altra  Olympus 7 Mid GTX Hiking Boots - Men's

I loved the looks of these. I was hoping they would not be as tight as the Olympus 6 GTX and would fit like a normal non GTX Olympus. I had the Timp 6 Mid GTX and those had plenty of room. I should have kept those. For reference I have a wide forefoot (2E). Regular Olympus and 275 and 275 HiLo fit me fine. Also, what is up with the top two lace eyelets? Nothing fast about them what so ever. They are such a pain to thread that I don't pull the laces out of them Like I would the top two eyelets of any other boots (including other Altras).

Purchased these shoes 1 month in advance ofa 2 week trip that will invole rainy climate and wanted a comfortable waterproof hiker. The first word in the shoes description is waterproof, they are NOT. 1st day wore in the house to see how they felt, comfortable, large toe box. 2nd day took dog for a 20 minute walk in 3 to 4" dewy morning grass and both shoes front 1/3 were wet on the inside, socks wet too. I've owned many pair of Gore-tex hiking and hunting boots in the past and never had issues with Gore-tex getting wet on the second wearing maybe after a couple of years. Very disappointed. This was not foot moisture or breathability issue as it was only 20 minutes on 71 degree morning.

True to size with a very roomy toe box. I use them as tactile boot when out working. they hold up very well. No pressure on the front area of my feet. Love that. They are hard to lace up, particularly at the very top. Threading the top 4 holes can be challenging. . I will have to find a speed lace system that works for. Again, these boots are amazing when wearing. . Just did 4 hours in them and my feet feel great. the laces, like all other altra laces are the problem. Never stay tied, Have to double tie

I just bought a pair of Olympus 6, I own earlier model and find the shoes comfortable. My reason to try the GTX as vs trail, I wanted for hiking. I have GOUT in my left toe, currently asymptomatic. These are the only shoes that give my toes more room. I add “steel spring inserts” for addt’l protection. I figured if the Olympus 4 trail made it possible for me to hike again, pain free, these hiking shoes should add addt’l support. I love these shoes,

I have the “Black” Olympus 6 , they are grey not even close to black. Before I spend money I want to know If these are actually black in color so I can wear them for work?

This is my first experience with Altra foot wear.  I decided to finally try these because the previous model had positive reviews. First, I would like to discuss the zero drop nonsense.  I say nonsense because zero drop is marketed as a more natural, barefoot walking feel.  Well,  walking around barefoot just isn't natural for humans anymore, is it?  We started wearing shoes thousands of years ago for a reason.  So, again, nonsense.  Next I would like to discuss how altra markets these as "hiking boots." I have tried over 40 pairs of hiking/trail running footwear in the last three and a half years and I have never seen a channel of exposed foam in the outsole.  When I saw that,  I thought "well the first time I step on a sharp rock,  that it going to get destroyed." Sure enough,  the first and only time I hiked in these,  a sharp rack penatrated the foam and made a small hole,  which I'm sure would have enlarged over time.  It says on these boots that they are "designed in Denver and tested in the Rockies." Where? Where in the rockies did you test these? On a nice, smooth dirt road with no rocks on it? Well in the wasatch mountains, which are part of the rockies, on a real hiking trail,  where I tested them,  they just simply did not work.  There is not enough material underfoot and zero stability, lateral or otherwise. They made a horrible popping noise,  which I could have lived with,  if they were actually hiking boots.  The toe box is roomy though.  These are absolutely getting returned and I will not recommend Altra to anyone.  Extremely disappointing!
