I had used a 26L Osprey for many years. It held up well. When I went to purchase a new one the reviews of a 30L Osprey did not impress me. One reason was it did not have a separate pocket for a reservoir, which is a feature I like. It also did not have pockets the way I like them. The reviews of the Gregory 30L pack showed the features I like as did the photos of the pack online so I purchased it. I have used it on several occasions day hiking and it fits well on my hips better distributing weight on my back than previously. I also purchased a Gregory 30L reservoir and it fits very well and has features that my Camelback did not have.
I added this pack to my quiver because I needed a lightweight pack that had extra volume for hauling gear + layers on winter and shoulder season adventures. It immediately became one of favorite packs in my line up. Exceptionally built, well designed, very comfortable. Still looks new after many ascents/descents over abrasive granite in Sierras. Almost cavernous in what it can hold. Handles variable volumes and weights well, cinch straps are effective at even with sub 10l loads. Hydration sleeve well designed for fast and efficient refills even when loaded. Recommended.
Used this on a recent hiking trip and it’s now my favorite bag. Very comfortable hip belt and straps. Works great with my 100L camelbak reservoir - really easy to feed the tube through even with a bite valve guard. Compression straps where you need them that don’t hinder opening the bag. Small zip on the outside and inside main compartment for some organization. I wish there was a larger “small” compartment for better organization, but I guess that’s what’s on the Citro 36. Plenty of space in the main compartment and I organized things by using stuff sacks. Fully loaded and worn properly, this bag feels light and comfortable on my back. Material feels strong and the bag is well made. I expect many years of use.
I bought this primarily as a school/work backpack. I really like the bag, but unfortunately, it does not fit my old 13” Mac Pro well. The frame keeps it from snuggling up against the back. It will work if you have it away from the frame, separated by a book or something. The pouch is really only meant for the hydration bladder. It does hold books pretty well, and I asked other reviewers before purchasing on if it would fit my hydroflask/Nalgene sized water bottles-they do, and I’m grateful for that. Supports are really good - definitely excited to take this on hikes.
Overall like the mix of features in this back, it's pretty good all around. A few things I'd change is it would be nice to have one or two of those shoulder strap pockets, I've found the hip pockets won't zip closed with just one hand, and personally I'd like it to be longer or more adjustable. I'm on the tall side and if you look at the model in the photos the waist belt is sitting a good couple inches above his waist which is where it's at for me so I have to over open the shoulder straps if I want the weight on my hips. Even then it's pretty comfortable though.
This day pack is great for a long day in the wilderness. The lumbar support frame made this pack feel weightless with zero strain on my lower back and shoulders. Completely adjustable just like the larger packs. The design is well thought out and has plenty of storage. I could absolutely use this pack for a 1-2 day, summertime, overnight backpacking adventure with my tent hammock setup and lightweight camping quilt. Typical A+ quality Gregory packs are known for.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This being my third gregory backpack purchase, I would like to add that this is my favorite gregory design and I am utterly satisfied with the stitching and heft of fabric used. It actually feels better on my back than NOT wearing a backpack!. Once I had painted over the gregory insignia with a red and green yin/yang symbol, I felt more comfortable wearing this thing than not wearing any backpack. Congratulations on a perfect design.
I got this pack to replace a well traveled Gregory daypack. The Citro is a comfortable pack for a lot of different activities. Perfect for a day on the trail, beach, or as a carry on when flying. I like the pocket configuration and the adjustability of the straps to get a comfortable and secure fit. I’m happy with this pack and I’m sure I’ll get a lot of years and miles out of it.
Great product, well made, and served me well. Have already taken the bag on a couple of hikes and all of the features on the bag have been extremely useful. I also purchased a Gregory Bladder and I couldn't ask for a better pair. Lots of space and great features. The other great thing about this bag is its for any level of experience in the outdoor scene.
Great for day hikes, normally bring a gallon of water for the weight and hydration, and it doesn't feel like I'm carrying anything. I can run with the weight too and the pack doesn't flop around.
