Water repellent but not waterproof
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been working outside 8 hours a day this summer and have worn these rain pants on the many days of heavy, unrelenting rain we have had this summer in Vermont. They are fairly breathable, comfortable, and definitely repel water for awhile in lighter rain. However, after several hours of constant rain, they do soak through and my legs and undergarments get wet. In contrast, my Gortex Marmot jacket keeps me dry even after an entire day in pouring rain! For this reason, I'm considering upgrading to the Marmot Gortex rain pants.
Great Rain/Wind Pants
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These zip-off rain/wind pants are actually my second pair. I bought some years ago, but my daughter stole them! I’m an urban cyclist, and travel everywhere on my trusty Trek. Traditional foul weather gear is too hot, even in winter, and doesn’t breathe like these. And as far as winter goes, the Marmot pants provide enough wind protection to offer a bit of warmth. Zips and Velcro allow dressing and undressing without removing shoes or boots, a big plus! Highly recommended.
Great rain pants with pockets
I’ve owned several pair of Marmot rain pants in the past and all of them did a great job keeping out the rain. But my full-zip pants were old and bulky, and these weigh only 10 oz and fit over my hiking boots. The fit is perfect (5’6”, 120 lbs, size Small), and I love the pockets for my phone and hankie. Marmot did a good job designing these pants, and although I haven’t had them in the rain yet, if they work as well as my last 2 pair I will be happy.
Great rain pants. Excellent full length zippers!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I like these rain-proof pants so much that this is my 2nd pair, after using the 1st pair for 10+ yrs. The best feature, other than being waterproof, is that they zip the full length of the pants. SO, easy to get on or off over muddy hiking boots. I bought them a bit large to fit over lightweight hiking pants, but still good over a simple base layer when you're doing strenuous hiking and generating a lot of heat.
Went A Size Up
After reading other reviews, I decided to order a size larger than my normal (medium -> large), and I'm glad I did. While there is ample room without it being too large in the crotch, bum, or legs, I can easily fit jeans or insulated leggings underneath without feeling constrained. The elastic ankles keeps the pants from dragging on the ground or getting covered with mud.
Excellent design!
Excellent design. Full leg zip. Velcro tabs at waist are designed to fold back on themselves when putting pants on/off, preventing Velcro from sticking where it shouldn’t. Elastic cord at ankle to adjust for a snug fit (if desired).
Great pants!
Great pants. I use them in the winter. Easy to throw on over whatever pant I'm wearing - I went up one size so I could do this. For snowshoeing, etc. I wear them over long underwear for more warmth. Love the front pockets.
FABULOUS PANTS
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] LOVE THESE PANTS. The full zip makes it so easy to put on, adjust while wearing for heat, etc. and a breeze to take off. I have them in one size more than usual so I can easily layer below.
Good
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great pants. I’m so glad to find full zip rain pants instead of only quarter or half. The full zip are way more practical. Seems to be good material, we’ll see how it holds up in the rain.
I love these pants!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love these over-pants, The zippers make putting boots on and off easy. They wash like a dream. I've worn them for 10years of heavy usage and am just replacing them now
