I tested the TERREX Freehiker 3 Mid GORE-TEX while exploring New River Gorge National Park, and it handled everything from technical trails and loose rock to roots and uneven surfaces with impressive stability. The mid-cut design provided helpful ankle support without feeling stiff or bulky, while the cushioning kept me comfortable during long hours on the trail. The traction felt secure on steep climbs, descents, and rocky terrain, and the GORE-TEX protection kept me confident through wet trails, mud, and changing conditions. Coming from a running and fitness background, I also appreciated the shoe’s athletic feel—it offers the support and protection of a hiking boot while remaining comfortable and mobile enough for long miles.

So far so good! Comfortable right out of the box - zero break-in needed. 10 miles of Alaska trails to put them through the paces - handled flat, steep, rocks, dirt, mud, puddles, creeks without issue. Today was exceptionally wet and rainy and my feet stayed bone dry. Good traction too. Perfect cross between trail running shoes and hiking boots. Lightweight and supportive; the material around the toe box seems thin, but also pretty tough. Time will tell how they hold up. Great lightweight hikers, but also felt like I could run in these if I needed to.

The adidas Terrex Free Hiker 3 Mid GORE-TEX hiking shoes are one of the most comfortable hiking shoes I’ve worn. I live in the PNW and hike many different types of terrain for a variety of activities, and these are a solid and versatile shoe. They perform like good quality hiking footwear, but feel much more like a supportive sneaker than a bulky hiking boot, which made them really comfortable right out of the box with very little break-in time. I really like that these shoes are naturally a wider fit. Normally I need shoes that are marked as such, but these fit great at a standard width, and even have room for good quality hiking socks. They are extremely functional and adapt well to varied terrains which is essential for me in a hiking shoe. They are also extremely light weight which makes such a difference when you’re putting in miles. I I also felt like they were very breathable and my feet and socks stayed comfortable for the hours that I wore them. Overall these are an excellent choice for anyone who’s looking for a shoe like this that can perform many different functions and still look clean and casual. These shoes were gifted by Adidas in exchange for my honest opinion.

Purchased these because I was heading on a 15 day work trip to Panama City Panama, which was in the middle of monsoon season and getting .75-1” of rain per day. The only other waterproof shoes I had were my ginormous and heavy snow boots. Watched a bunch of YouTube reviews and suggestions and took a swing on these and could not be happier. Literally the only slight negative is they do run warm, but that’s definitely expected with the goretex and definitely worth it to be so waterproof. They’re insanely comfortable, they’re light which is great for travel and when you’re wearing them all day for multiple days on end like I was. They felt sturdy, have great traction, and were pretty fantastic to walk in and shockingly good to do occasional jogging in when I needed too. Definitely recommending these to my friends.

Just hiked 90 miles on the Tour Montblanc. These boots were fantastic! Waterproof, well made, look good, and very comfortable. Breathable gore tex make them a good city shoe as well. Ready to hike immediately without break in period. Shoelaces hold well. After continuous/stressful use, tread looks nearly brand new and there are no defects in the build quality. Cannot recommend these boots more strongly if they fit well for you!

I buy these boots for a more tactical use. They’re very light and comfortable, so it makes it easy to be on your feet all day. The waterproof feature is a must and is constantly tested to be true. The only knock I’d give them is the baffling gum colored tip. I had to color it black for my particular application. Other than the questionable color choice, in my opinion, they’re great!

Great functional and comfortable shoe! I am outside a good bit and get a lot of steps in regularly, so I was glad to find a shoe that balanced comfort and support. They’re lightweight which was a pleasant surprise, so they’re easy to wear. I got them in black, so they go with everything, and will definitely be getting a lot of use out of them.

I wore this product through the airport to break them in then on my second ever hike and they stood up. My feet felt secure and comfortable. More importantly my ankles did not hurt afterwards. I currently weigh 476 pounds and I couldn't recommend them more.

I up my size because of my achilles tendinitis and bought size 11 but it feels like size 10 very disappointed also my feet cannot breathe. Cushion is very vey nice. No quick lacing (metal hole). I will return it and get another brand (hoka).
