Alpha Direct is the best Ultralight fleece ever.
REI finally has an Alpha Direct hoodie! This is the best ultralight thermal layer you can buy. It wears cool and breathable by itself and then when you put a jacket or wind shirt over it it warms up a lot due to blocking the airflow. The fabric dries out very fast and makes it good as a base layer in wet weather. The cut and fit of the REI version of this hoodie type is excellent and not too baggy. Beware that the fabric is more prone to getting ripped if you walk through stuff like blackberry bushes without protecting the fabric. It weighs about the same as my other Alpha Direct hoodie from another brand in the same size and fabric weight.

This hoodie is super comfortable, fits true to size and feels well made, I really love it and the quality feels better than I expected. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone.
Beautiful and light, but not as breathable as wool
I like where this is going, it's a great design, functional and light, but natural fibers would be much better. A wool version of this wins big time. Love the cream color.
Quality layer
As an avid outdoor runner I could be more excited to have this base layer added to my collection. It’s so lightweight and comfortable. This is a high quality piece that will keep your sweat off your skin and keep you staying warm as it begins to get cooler. I love the bright fun color as well as the thumb attachment.
Awesome fabric
Love the feel of this fabric. Ultra lightweight and breathable but also warm and cozy. Fits great.
