Nomadix  Ice Bandana

This bandanna has saved me this summer through the heat wave here in the Midwest. I’ve been wearing it everywhere but it came in clutch for an amusement park outing with my family. We shared it between the 4 of us, taking turns to cool off.

This bandana is amazing. It holds so much ice and really does help me feel cooler on hot days! The only small issue is that the melt water seeps through the fabric as the ice melts. This could be desirable sometimes (e.g. when hiking or biking or otherwise really exerting yourself on a hot day) but not so desirable other times (e.g. when commuting to work/the office). No big deal, though—I just put the ice in a ziploc bag before putting it into the bandana when I want to stay dry. It works just as well but without the mess. Problem solved!

Love this ice bandana! Great design, works perfectly and even doubles up as a secret pouch to carry ID and cash then exploring.

It's Nomadix, so the quality is great. I love my Nomadix banana towels but this one is a miss. I just got back from a trip to North Georgia where this bandana's maiden voyage was as an impromptu ice pack. I thought it was meant to retain melting water but that was not my experience. It was dripping within about 5 minutes. We actually needed to put the whole wrap in a plastic bag to keep the water from running all over. Keep in mind that this was all happening in an air conditioned room. I think this would be great paired with those little reusable ice cubes, or ice that you put in a sealed baggie first. If you do just go with regular ice, you're going to have water dripping down your chest or back. If that's not an issue, say on a hike or ride, go for it. If you want to stay cool AND dry, bag your ice first.

Having severe heat sensitivity, I appreciate that I can jam a ton of ice in this and be out in hot weather much more comfortably. It’s fabric so the ice will melt and get your shirt wet, so it’s something to keep in mind, but for hiking, gardening, walking the dogs, etc it’s not a big deal for me. Once the ice fully melts it still stays cool for a long time. Great tool to have if you have heat sensitivity.

This is basically a triangle shaped microfiber pouch, when you put ice in it, it looks bulky. It doesn’t look like a bandana when there’s ice, it looks like a pouch with ice. It doesn’t seem to keep the cold or wetness for very long, for example I went for a walk with my brother who wore the frogg toggs towel and his was still wet by the time my entire tray of ice had melted and the rag was basically just a little damp. The water basically drips down the bottom V portion of the bandana which makes it so that your chest or your back are really the big ones getting cooled and soaked, not so much your neck which is where you have the most exposed arteries. I would say if you are someone of the gothic persuasion like I am, this can be nice but after using this I think a wet bandana is more comfortable than this.

I was so excited to see this when it was advertised online- I work outside in Florida in the heat all day, and the cooling cloths and heat gear don’t last very long. This is genius. It’s made of microsuede so it’s really soft. Putting the ice in a small ziplock snack bag keeps it from drenching your shirt. Please make in other lighter colors!

I’m certain this is an excellent product. I wanted to leave a review to share that you can use a regular bandana in a similar way. Fold the bandana in half, grab a large handful of ice cubes, and arrange them linearly along the long side of the triangle. Fold the long edge towards the point, keeping the ice cubes arranged like a log inside the bandana. Tie it around your neck! It works great for hot bike rides or walks (water will drip, but it’s excellent if you’re hot). If you have a bandana at home give it a try!

Despite some of the negative feedback. Which is ok not for everyone. My sis introduced this to me because she is a traveling nurse. I work for usps As a carrier. South Texas heat is brutal when doing 7 miles a day with 30lbs satchel. I was skeptical at first especially with the dripping as ice melted. Well I decided to put ice in a freezer zip lock and wow huge difference. Rei/nomadix im recommending to the other carriers to check youll out. Cheers
