can i give it more than 5 stars?
Id like to say was given the chance to purchase this for myself but i dont buy myself nice things, my ol lady bought this for me. At first i thought am i even worthy of being in the same room as it never mind wearing it? It was like love at first sight (insert feels like the first time by foreigner) all of my troubles had withered away. It was a raw and powerful moment putting it on for the first time. But it felt oh so right. I could move around, I could mosh, i could hike, i could dance, i could accomplish anything in this human vessel. Your probably thinking now, am i even worthy of this jacket? i thought that too but you just have to accept that it is meant for you, a perfect mid layer on colder days or top layer on cooler mountains in the summer. it will define the bloodline of your family. I am tyler and i approve this message.
I think it's going to be good
Just got this, but I'll share initial impressions. For those into backpacking, this seems like an intentional alternative to the Melanzana. That's a good thing. The medium I got weighs in at 11.9 oz. The bright copper is more of an autumn orange, or pumpkin color than the photos depict, also a good thing iny book. I like the density of the grid fleece material MH uses, it is not such an open weave that I feel coolness coming in, but it is more breathable than a standard polartec fleece type material. If I had any initial complaints, it could use slightly more length in the body and maybe thumb loops, but having not actually used it in the field, maybe those are unfounded. Overall, this is the one that will make it in the pack going forward for cool/cold weather trips. I like it. I'm 5'11" 180lbs .. medium seems right
Comfy, light-weight mid-layer!
My cooper colored Summit Grid has become my go-to mid-layer for colder days. The fit is roomy enough to wear over a base layer, and snug enough to wear under a parka or light-weight down. Feels nice and unrestrictive to climb in, and soooo comfortable. I don't leave home without it!
Perfect versatile addition to my core wardrobe
a fabulous lighter weight fleece. think early Fall or Late Spring when you don't need a sweater, or a coat, but a long sleeve tee just isn't quite cozy enough. I love the fabric, the kangaroo pocket, the smaller/fitted hood and the 1/4 zip. a very versatile piece that goes well with pajama bottoms, jeans, sweats, or shorts/swimsuit -- yes, this would be a perfect piece for the beach after a long day in the surf in NorCal. also for in between sport routes at the Red, or post MTN bike ride at Pisgah. not really a technical piece, but I think it would do just fine if you let it.
Fleece for all
Got this at the start of ski season and won’t stop taking it everywhere! Perfect layer to have when things get chilly and there’s still more uphill. Wicks and stays dry
Great warmth vs. breathability especially in colder climates.
It is the perfect balance between warmth and breathability. But it definitely airs on the side of warmth than breathability compared to the Patagonia R1. If the R1 is too cold for you, this will be just right. Its slightly oversize which is perfect to have a single layer, for climbing and mobility. Climbing in it I tend to get a bit warm but then am fine even on long belays between pitches. A great layer for the quiver or as a light layer for hiking or wearing around town. 5'9" 170 and a medium is perfect (slightly baggy).
Pull the trigger now, you won’t be disappointed!!!
The only thing I was skeptical about with this purchase was the color. I was looking for a grid fleece to rival the military issued “waffle top”. I was already familiar with the Mountain Hardware brand from my military service so I knew that I was getting a quality, well made product. I couldn’t be happier with this purchase it has served me well so far. The only thing I could suggest is to offer more color choices!!! Thx. Mountain Hardware!!!🔥🔥🔥
Thin, light, and superior warmth and wind resistance.
Super warm for being thin and light. The grid technology retains body heat while not restricting movement. The hood is adjustable and very warm and wind resistant. I am 6'1" 180lbs. The large is a bit loose, but still very warm. Had no issues in Wisconsin fall cold winds in the jeep with the doors and windows off. I should have been chilled to the bone, instead I was very warm. Proven to be a go to choice for fall weather.
Perfect for lanky slender teenager.
I actually bought the women's black tunic for my very slender lanky teenager son. Some men's sizing is just too wide for him, so I got him the women's large. He's 5'8 and about 115lbs. It fits him very well and is a good length for his longer torso. He loves softness the material inside and is indifferent on the grid-style outer. He's worn this several times over a t-shirt as Ohio's September fall evenings kick in.
Excellent hoodie!
This hoodie is exactly what I hoped it would be. I was looking for a comfortable light/mid weight top to use on its own or as a layering piece for colder conditions. This hoodie does that. It’s comfortable, well made and the fit is perfect for me. The deep rust color is great too. I couldn’t be happier with my purchase.
