- Machine wash cold in front-loading washer on gentle cycle; use down wash; rinse thoroughly at least twice; do not wring; remove promptly; do not use bleach or fabric softener
- Tumble dry low with 2 clean tennis balls; remove and fluff after each cycle, returning to dryer until completely dry; do not line dry

This REI down jacket is a basic but good winter jacket that is perfect for cold winter days.

This REI 650 down jacket is a legit winter jacket. It’s a big puffy that is super warm. It does have a few extras, but mostly it is a basic down puffy coat made for cold winter days. There are two zip pockets on the outside, two drop in pockets on the inside, and cords to tighten the coat around the waist so wind doesn’t come up under it. Other than that it’s a basic coat. The large fits me as a large should. It’s slightly roomy, which is fine for me because I can put a sweater or base layer under it. The hood is a little big, but it is warm and it will work over a stocking cap or beanie. The sleeves are just the right length for my 6’, 190lb body. The coat doesn’t pack down for backpacking, but it is a great everyday coat for wearing on those cold winter days.

Great all around jacket.

Great jacket. Very warm and quite durable (definitely scraped against some stuff without any issues to the jacket). I like the fit and color - I’m 6’ and 185lbs and wearing a size M. It’s a roomy enough fit to get a thick layer or two underneath - but not so roomy to seem bulky. No issues with moving when it is on, either - not restrictive in any way. I’m overall really happy with the jacket. I think the only trade off is that the jacket seems a bit on the heavy side along with not being super breathable but nothing crazy in either case. Pockets are positioned right and are warm. The hood fits great - didn’t try with a helmet under it but I don’t anticipate any issues there if standing under a crag belaying. And all around great jacket - works well around town too! The fit is not only good for base layers but also wearing around town after a day out. Overall - a great all around jacket. You can find lighter or jackets tailored to a specific outdoor sport/activity but this one will always be in the pack for a big winter day out.
