A sidegrade from TP3

This review focuses on differences from the AER Travel Pack 3. User context: One-bag travel and nomadic lifestyle (I don’t spend much time at home!) As an owner of the TP3 28L/35L, my opinions on changes for the TP4 go both ways! Pros: * The water bottle pockets are fantastic. Vs the V3, it’s much easier to put a large bottle in. Less hardware, too! * Zipper pull tabs make closing the main compartment a breeze. A win for pack-crammers (me!) * Small items/glasses compartment is a gentle liner. As someone with often very dry hands, the previous revision scratched me up so much I often didn’t use it. * It’s friend shaped! I use this bag every day, so having some roundness to the bag makes it easier on the eyes. Neutral: * No more compression straps! Their removal allows for better bottle pockets, but the bag can be a little frumpier when not packed out fully. * Change of main compartment organization means I can’t fit my day sling into the hidden panel anymore. This isn’t terrible, as it now goes on top of my packing cube. Cons: * I miss my admin panel! Having pockets on pockets on pockets (on pockets…) is excellent for someone like me who packs a million knick knacks, but I recognize Aer designed this as essentially a large CPP2. * 2 bottle pockets is cool, but I miss being able to shove my power bank in the side zipper pocket on my TP3. Overall, this bag is an excellent *sidegrade*. Is it worth switching from the TP3? That’s up to you to demo out.
