Fernos knickers. Zippety do-da.
I bought a pair of these knickers two years ago. I loved them but immediately felt that they were missing a zipper and commented on this in an earlier review. I took my pair to a local seamstress to add one. It worked okay but had to add a Velcro strip at the waist to make them stay closed. Voila! Stio heard our call for getting a zipper as a standard feature and made it a reality. These are perfect as a mid layer under a shell pant or bibs for days on alpine boards and even work on their own for a tour on the skinny skis. )6

Previous versions of the Fernos Insulated Knicker had one thigh pocket and no fly. This season features two hip pockets and a hidden zippered hip pocket. The best feature is a zippered fly for a quick access. I also realized that the waist drawstrings can be tied outside the waistband or outside the waistband. Pleasing colors too.

I have pretty much every Fernos product in the Stio lineup and out of off all of them, this and the Fernos jacket are my favorite The material is so soft and warm and the 3/4 lengths perfect for ski boots and also rain boots. I also own the full length, but rarely find myself needing the extra insulation. If you had to choose between the full length or 3/4 knicker, I’d do with the 3/4 knicker as a mid layer (or even an outer layer if you’ll be pairing it with boots)
What took so long?
Have previous version with no zippered fly or fly at all. Every trip to the urinal or to go in Mother Nature was a PIA. Terrible over sight that carried on for years. Now with a zippered fly… finally! Now it’s great.
