A Stability Shoe That Doesn’t Feel Like One

First thoughts: these shoes are comfortable, especially for a moderatel stability shoe. My last experience with the GT-2000 was a short trial of the v9/v10, and I remember them being simply too hard for me. The GT-2000 15 feels like a completely different take on a stability shoe from ASICS. There’s enough structure underfoot to feel supported, but it doesn’t come with the firm, rigid ride I used to associate with stability shoes. And, surprisingly, they’re relatively light too. For context, I’m coming from a long stretch of soft/comfy-first shoes: Brooks Glycerin 21 & 22 StealthFit, New Balance 1080v12, Adidas Ultraboost 20. That’s the kind of ride I naturally gravitate toward, and I like to actually feel some give and cushioning under my feet. Eventually my heels, the balls of my feet, and my knees started asking for something a little more stable, but I didn’t want to swing all the way back to a traditional stability shoe that felt heavy or stiff just for the sake of support. So far, the GT-2000 15 seems to hit that middle ground extremely well. It’s comfortable without being mushy, supportive without feeling corrective, and stable without feeling like a “stability shoe.” I can feel that there’s more guidance and structure here than in my Glycerins or 1080s, but it doesn’t feel like I’m sacrificing the comfort that made me love those shoes in the first place. ASICS has managed to get me back into a stability shoe without making me feel like I went back to a stability shoe. These are only first impressions, so I’ll have to see how they feel after some real time on my feet, but so far? I think these are keepers.
