The End of Hiking in Trail Runners & Approach Shoe

A boot with all the protection and stability but retains the mobility and control off an approach shoe or trail runner. Straight out of the box, bushwhacked for 9 hours in them and had no issues with break in. Could scramble no problem on talus and rock, and was nice to have some extra protection in the scree. I, like many, had moved to doing most hikes/treks in trail runners and approach shoes for the last few years however, this is now the boot that won't compromise on the above. Sizing: I wear a 10.5 in the Sylan 1 & 2 and Vertex Speed, and I am definitely a 10.5 in these - no need to size up, if anything I had more room in this boot that than the Sylan.

Agile, low profile and comfortable. Big fan!

Great boot! I instantly felt supported not just in my ankle but in my entire step thanks to the solid construction. The grip was great when tested in loose rock scrambles and wet alpine conditions. They honestly only needed a few km to feel broken and perfect for my feet. I just adjusted them a few times the first time wearing them and now they're perfect. My favourite thing? They aren't clunky hiking boots. I usually opt for hiking shoes or even trail runners because I sometimes perceive hiking boots as bulky, but with the Konseal's that is absolutely not the case - agile, low profile and comfortable. Big fan!

Great waterproof warm weather boots

Best fitting boots I've ever worn . They have a great combination of support but excellent ground feel. I measure a US 13 standard width and these boots fit me perfect with a set of Sheep Feet insoles and thin to medium thickness socks. For me there was zero break in time, literally ready to go straight out of the box.

Boots for casual hikes and crag approaches!

The Konseal Trek feels great on the first few uses. While it hasn't been tested by extreme mountain terrain, it is already pretty comfortable and grippy for simple hikes and short approaches. Ankle support is key for me because of multiple ankle injuries, and these feel well supported without being heavy and stiff. I feel like they are already comfortable and don't have an extreme break-in time, which is nice to have your shoes comfortable and ready to use.

Excellent Boots / worth getting

Amazing boots, these replaced my Acrux TR boots and they performed perfectly! Worked well in 4th and 5th class terrain, moving across glaciers and held up after climbing through very rough terrain through the Talkeetna Mountains in Alaska.

Way to narrow

Its such a shame to because the boots look awesome and feel great everywhere apart from the toe box!! It runs !extremely! narrow i didnt even have a chance to wear them out as the were painful. Gutted as i love the brand and the look of these boots. Please arcteryx give us the option of a different foot widths as these are wayyy to narrow.

Hello Josh, thank you for sharing your experience with the Konseal Trek Boot. We’re glad to hear the design and overall feel stood out, but we’re truly sorry the fit in the toe box was painful. This model does have a more precise forefoot intended for technical stability, and for some guests that can feel significantly tighter than expected. We understand how disappointing it is not to be able to wear a boot you were excited about, especially when you already love the brand. Your feedback about offering multiple foot widths is incredibly valuable, and we’ve passed it along to our footwear team as we continue refining fit options for future iterations.

Solid boot

I haven’t had much of a chance to wear these boots yet but my initial thoughts are that they are indeed solid. I prefer at least an ankle high boot when hiking and along with the gore Tex liner and vibram sole, these work well for me. Looking forward to many technical applications.

A definite step up in the hiking boot game

This shoe feels like a slightly softened version of an approach shoe. Shape reminds me of Scarpa, and the feel was similar and a bit more giving. And it did the job as advertised, gave the grip and hold for scramble type surfaces while remaining comfortable in the forest terrain.

Comfort and sizing

After a little walking which allowed me to break in the boot, the comfort became wonderful although the boot does run a little narrow by the pinky. Overall great boot for humidity and rough terrain.

Great boots

These boots fit true to size. Initial fitting the toe box felt small then became comfortable on the first hike. The ankle support and cushioning are good and comfortable.
