Faster pace, different strokes

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Hyperion max feel different than other Brooks shoes. When I took off for my first run the rocker/spring plate is very noticeable. Training in the shoes feels different, recovery is easier, and overall pace is faster. There is an adjustment period. I found the side to side support and movement on uneven surfaces to be awkward but if you are running straight and on a nice surface these shoes fly. For training runs, speed work, and a nice greenway or road these became my go to trainers.

Great Shoe

Great daily speed training shoe. Once you get settled into a pace it's really easy to tick over the miles. Great foot to road protection, and rebound from the midsole.

Excellent option for a one shoe quiver for med/bigger build runners

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love them, as a medium/bigger build runner, they work excellent as a one shoe quiver. I use for all runs (general aerobic runs, speed, and long efforts). I don’t race in them, but I probably could and would be happy how they perform. The upper update is good! Foam feels maybe more durable than the last model, but hard to know only a couple miles in. Im stoked on them and plan to use them for the majority of my marathon build. Hope it will be a great compliment to the exciting new Hyperion elite. Good job brooks putting attention to your race lines (both trail and road). Hopping to see more of this!

Great for Hyperion lovers!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve been running in the Hyperion line since it was first introduced and have absolutely loved every version. I run 4-5 races each year, including both full and half marathons. My typical rotation is to train in the Hyperions and race in the Hyperion Elite. I purchased the Hyperion Max 4 looking to transition further into the “super trainer” category and experience the latest foam and technology updates. Over the past several weeks, I’ve logged multiple long runs and speed sessions in them. Initially, I was very impressed with the ride, responsiveness, and cushioning. More recently, however, I’ve started experiencing some left heel pain. I wasn’t aware that the drop had changed from previous Hyperion models, moving from 8mm to 6mm. While 2mm may not sound significant, it can be enough to alter loading patterns on the Achilles and heel, particularly for runners accustomed to the previous geometry. I also noticed that the upper on my left shoe appears slightly off-center, which may also be contributing to the issue. I may have to return them. Overall, I would wholeheartedly recommend the Hyperion Max 4. It’s an excellent shoe with impressive technology and performance characteristics. Just be aware of the changes in geometry and pay attention to fit, as these nuances may affect some runners differently.

Fast, Smooth, and Comfortable for Workouts and Long Runs

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve really enjoyed running in the Hyperion Max 4. The shoe feels fast and responsive while still providing enough cushioning for longer runs and harder workouts. During tempo runs and faster-paced efforts, it felt easy to maintain pace, and the ride had a lively feel that helped me stay moving efficiently. One of my favorite aspects was the smooth heel-to-toe transition. The rocker design creates a natural rolling sensation that helps carry you forward without feeling overly aggressive. The forward momentum is noticeable, especially when picking up the pace, and it helps make workouts feel more efficient. The shoe also strikes a nice balance between lightweight performance and underfoot protection. It never felt bulky or heavy, but there was still enough cushioning to stay comfortable during longer runs and higher-intensity sessions. Even as the miles added up, my legs felt fresher than expected. The fit was comfortable and secure, with plenty of room where needed while still providing good lockdown during faster running. Overall, the Hyperion Max 4 delivers a versatile ride that works well for tempo runs, speed workouts, and longer training efforts. It’s a shoe I would happily continue reaching for on a regular basis.

Maxing up

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Out the gate the shoes felt responsiveness and felt a satisfying return of energy with every step and stride. They definitely held up to the pace and tempo and I was not disappointed at all with the fit, comfort or support it provided. The structure and curvature of the shoe made the heel-to-toe transition all the more seamless. The shoes’ structure definitely provides a sensation of being on your toes which felt nice to me and consistently provoked me to keep running. The only annoying thing I experienced at times, is sometimes depending on how I planted my foot, my knee was forced inwards towards my other knee providing like a knock-knee feeling but maybe it’s just me still breaking in the shoes. The shoes are undeniably comfy and bouncy. They don’t feel as heavy as they look but they do feel a tad bit heavier but nothing too troubling for me. My underfoot felt secure and protected and I have not experienced any discomfort or noticeable concerns so far. For me, I went to true to size in my usual 11.5 men’s size. I have narrow feet and without securing the laces the shoes fit comfortably. When I laced them, I get that secure snug feeling. The toe box does feel a little bit narrower but other than that the shoes provided a satisfactory fit and feel.

Hyperion Max 4

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Best yet from Brooks! The Brooks Hyperion Max 4 shoes are a game changer for balancing performance and comfort. My favorite feature of the Hyperion Max 4 is how effortlessly it handles faster paces. Whether I was running tempo workouts or simply picking up the pace at the end of a run, the shoe felt responsive and energetic. The cushioning provides the right amount of protection without feeling overly soft, allowing for a smooth and efficient ride that encourages you to keep moving. Thanks to the rocker geometry, the heel-to-toe transition is incredibly fluid. The Hyperion Max 4 naturally rolls your foot forward on each stride, creating a noticeable sense of momentum that helps maintain rhythm, especially during longer runs. One of the most impressive aspects of the Hyperion Max 4 shoes is the balance between lightweight performance and underfoot support. Despite the generous amount of cushioning, the shoe never feels bulky or cumbersome. It provides plenty of protection for longer runs and high-intensity efforts while remaining light enough to feel quick and responsive when it's time to push the pace. The breathable materials and ventilation kept my feet cool and comfortable, even on a hot day. Overall, the Brooks Hyperion Max 4 delivers the best of both worlds: exceptional comfort for daily miles and enough responsiveness to excel during workouts and tempo runs. It's a versatile shoe that leaves your legs feeling fresh and your runs feeling faster. I highly recommend!

Makes me miss the 3s

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I wanted to love these shoe but don't. They have a large cutout area of the sole that seems to help keep them lightweight- but also allowed me to pronate more than previous versions. That combined with a very stiff heel counter led to an acute achilles tendonitis within the first 3 runs (45-60 mins each). That said, they so look cool and are light and reactive.

Hyperion Max 4

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Super comfortable with a great cushion! I use for work running around in the hospital. Does not tire my feet out at the end of the day.

Running on a cloud!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Hyperion Max 4 was a very different running experience than what I’m used to, and that was probably the biggest surprise. I’ve been running in them daily for a little over a week, averaging roughly 5 to10 miles per day, so I’ve had enough time to move beyond first impressions and start adapting to them. I typically run in lower-profile shoes with less cushioning, so putting on a shoe with this much foam underfoot took some adjustment during my first few runs. Initially they felt almost too soft and tall, but after spending more time in them I found myself enjoying them more and more. Despite the amount of cushioning, they feel surprisingly lightweight once you start moving. The biggest thing I noticed was the rocker shape and how much it changed the running experience. The rounded sole genuinely felt like it wanted to keep rolling forward and maintain momentum. At times it almost felt like I was trying to catch up to my own pace, not in a bad way, just noticeably different than what I’m accustomed to. The shoes definitely feel fast, although I would need more miles and timed runs before saying whether they actually make me faster. For me, these felt best during longer efforts, steady runs, and tempo-type pacing rather than short, high-intensity efforts. I was surprised how much cushioning there was without the shoe feeling heavy or bulky, especially during longer runs. Fit was good overall, although they felt slightly small for me at first. The midfoot lockdown was one of my favorite parts because the shoe felt connected to my foot rather than moving around underneath me. I also never noticed my feet getting overly hot during runs, which was something I was curious about given the amount of material in the upper. Overall, these pushed me outside my normal preferences, but after spending more time in them, I enjoyed them more than expected and look forward to putting more miles on them.
