REI Co-op  Trailmade Rain Jacket - Women's

The REI Trailmade Rain Jacket is a functional lightweight and comfortable shell. It is roomy enough to add an insulation layer under it and makes the jacket comfy when out on the paths and trails. The craftsmanship is high quality and the choice of fabric doesn’t make the typical shell “crunch” to maintain quietness when solitude is key. The length in the body is perfect, the sleeves on the women’s jacket seemed a touch long. Would be even better if it had an inside chest pocket. The hood is stellar though, with the ability to cinch up and having a rain bill or brim is excellent. Plus, it stays in place when on the go. Perfect for light rain the finish beads up water to help it slide off. A great piece of gear to add to your kit.

This jacket was a lovely surprise! It’s been extremely hot here in southern California, so we haven’t had much opportunity to test the REI Trailmade. Luckily, we had a few unexpected days of rain. Guess what? The jacket performed perfectly! It kept us dry and warm without causing us to sweat. That means breathability, people! She found the jacket comfortable with its mesh lining, and there are cinches around the waist and hood to adapt to your personal preferences. However, the sleeves are not adjustable, as there is elastic in each cuff. The pockets are lined with mesh and are also comfortable, but that also means that you can’t just stuff this jacket into a pocket for packing. Speaking of pockets, there are only two, which is pretty minimalistic, but they do have solid zippers on them. If you’re looking for a functional jacket with minimalist features and breathability for casual outdoor occasions, then look no further. It’s both water and wind resistant, so it works as a rainshell or outer layer for hiking as well, but it’s not the most packable jacket. We got the purple onyx colour, and it’s lovely!

This jacket is a medium thickness, perfect for cold but not freezing weather. The pockets and hood are a good size and the pockets have a zipper. Normally rain jackets are too thin and itchy but this jacket is double thickness and soft (really soft). It's super comfy and breathable! The quality is amazing, I'm really excited about this jacket!

I’ve struggled to find a rain jacket that is cute, fits well, and actually protects against the elements. Enter the Trailmade jacket!this jacket is lightweight, super easy to pack or slip onto a belt, makes very little noise, and looks great. My favorite aspect was the fit, the jacket is forgiving and fit over my hips, something that never happens with a S or M. And of course, it kept me dry during this start to the PNW fall! I even spilled some coffee on the sleeve and not even a hot liquid penetrated through.

Overall great product, does the job of keeping dry in the rain and has decent breathability. The zippers even have their own coverings to help prevent water from sleeping into pockets from the zipper. The fit using the measuring guides was pretty close to similar other brands for sizing options. The jacket overall is decently light and should pack well in any day pack for use. As far as rain shells go it was fairly soft and comfortable to wear for extended time. The drawstring in the back was a little hard to reach and seems to need to adjust prior to wearing the coat, so if it was moved to say the side or somewhere easier to get to that would be a plus but isn't really a show stopper for me, but is something that some folks may care about.

I was heading out the door to a soccer game and grabbed this raincoat on a whim after a quick look at the sky. 30 minutes later, it is pouring and rain is blowing sideways. As I sit in the stands writing this, I can say that this coat is performing beautifully. It is keeping me dry (the other fans around me are not as lucky) and I will be able to enjoy the game without being soggy and uncomfortable. It also breathes well and I am not a sweaty mess wearing it despite it being in the 80s and muggy. Well done, REI. I am a happy fan.

This jacket is solid. The fabric is breathable but also keeps you dry in the rain. It moves freely, can easily be layered, and has pockets with full zippers. It will be one I wear for a long time.

I wanted to love this raincoat. Fit wise, it's well constructed. However, it's a pretty heavy fabric, and did not feel well ventilated despite the description that it is. The wrists are also problematically loose with the elastic; enough so that there is plenty of room for water to get up the sleeve from wet trekking poles, just raising your hands, etc. The pockets are also awkwardly placed (very high, and way to the side).

Haven’t used it yet but fits well and if it’s not waterproof, I’ll return it. I like the fit and weight of the jacket and will be an excellent top layer on a windy or rainy day.
