I was looking for an upgrade from a 20" model for my 7yo. Most MTBs in the 20" and 24" categories are pretty uninspiring, but after looking at many brands, this Scott stuck out to me. The components were good and the price was great. It feels like Scott built this to make kids actually develop a love for mountain biking (and maybe pick up a Scott race-class bike later on). This bike is far lighter than just about anything you'll find near this price point (just over 25 pounds on my scale), and it has great components like an 8-speed cassette and Tektro hydraulic disc brakes. The suspension on it is a bit limited at 50mm travel, but while many enthusiasts look down upon even bothering with low-cost suspension, it allows my kid to navigate bumps that would throw him off otherwise. And as a bonus, Scott adds a kickstand and a rubber stem protector to avoid serious injuries in a crash! All around, this is a great package!
My daughter loves the bike. Hard to find a kids 24” bike with front forks, disc breaks and transmission all in one. This bike checks all the boxes. She is 7, just wish the break levers could be adjusted for smaller hands.
