It charges my phone
Tried it in my backyard for an hour. I have the smaller size Samsung phone. I plugged my phone in with 67% charge and after an hour of full sun I had 78% charge, so 11% charge in an hour. I was not in airplane mode, might charge a little faster in airplane mode. When I plugged the phone in it said "Slow Charging: 3 Hours Until Full" - (from 67%). So, it definitely works...I was hoping it would be a little faster, but I suppose about right for 10 watts. Keep in mind this test was in full sun and stationary. The panel quality seems really good and it folds up nicely.
Handy and compact, does what it says
I like this little thing! I initially thought I might be able to leave it on my car dashboard, but it truly needs direct sunlight, no interference at all. I like placing it on top of my car to run a fan and charge a separate battery. Two outputs is cool. Not a crazy amount of watts. Not sure how long it’ll live, but it does the job for now. Nice buy for a camper who wants to use utilities like usb blenders, chargers etcc
REI has gone downhill
Purchased this charger and it failed within 6 weeks. Returned it for a replacement. Local REI had not stock so they ship me a heavily used replacement. Packaging damage was first clue. Product did not perform well. Returned.
Barely charges
I was so excited when I got this, great design and compactness. But after numerous test runs, I will sadly have to return it. It barely produces a charge. In a bit more than an hour in full sun, midday on a clear summer day, i.e., best possible circumstances, my phone only gained 5%, so it could take something like 2-3 days of great sunny weather to fully charge once. I also tried charging my power bank, and in a full day in the sun, it barely gained charge, and never got past 2 bars (out of 4), even after putting it out again for a 2nd day.
Actually drains phone battery
When my iPhone is attached, the charger repeatedly turns on and off about every 2 seconds. This triggers repeated charge notification vibrations in the phone (if set to silent) that ultimately drain the battery faster than the on/off pulses charge it. Called customer service and they had no idea what to do. Don’t buy this.
nope
Unfortunately didn't work for me. Took it camping in NH in August. It could not charge a little power bank at all. Left it for hours in the sun. When I charged my phone, the phone battery went down actually. Not sure what went wrong.
