My Favorite Training Shoe of 2024

The Nike Zoomfly 6 has been my favorite training shoe from Nike this year. The lacing system and upper are perfectly dialed in, providing exceptional comfort. The midsole foam combination of ZoomX and SR-02 works seamlessly. While ZoomX isn’t Nike’s top-tier formulation, it is impressively soft and responsive. The SR-02, an older Nike innovation, adds reliable stability on landing. Sandwiched between these two layers is Nike’s Flyplate—a carbon fiber plate that delivers rigidity and enhances push-off. The rubber outsole provided excellent grip, even in wet, snowy Western New York winter weather. Bravo, Nike! I’ve loved running in these shoes and can’t wait to purchase another pair to add to my rotation!

Hands down best shoes for surgical recovery, etc.

Hopefully this review helps someone like myself who’s had major surgery and needs the best supportive shoe to help with recovery! This is the one! These shoes feel amazing going for a run or walk. I haven’t ran outside in years due to a bone disease I’ve suffered in my hip. I’m also flat footed and a bit wide footed as well and these shoes are perfect for myself. I also have a lot back issues as well when I’m on my feet but these shoes eliminate this problem!! I cannot get enough of them! I’m so glad I made this purchase. Don’t wait until they sell out! Well worth the money!!

The shoe Nike needed

This shoe blows the competition out of the water in the supershoe category. The ride is comfortable/squishy but very responsive, the stack is high but the shoe is stable and the sole is grippy. They also look awesome. The lockdown is also good. The past few previous iterations of the Zoom Fly have been bulky, stiff and overall disappointing but this shoe exceeded my expectations. Perfect for tempo sessions and also great for long runs. Also a great shoe for those looking for a carbon plated racer but with more stability than the alpha/vaporfly for a marathon. Will be interesting to see their durability but the construction seems very well made.

A Game-Changing Training Shoe

I’ve finally found the Nike training shoe I’ve been waiting for. My first run in them today was a 15-mile easy effort along a wet canal, and they exceeded all expectations. The comfort and bounce are outstanding, making each step feel energised. The upper is spacious yet secure, and the grip handled the slick conditions effortlessly. When I picked up the pace, they performed similarly to the Alphafly 3, maintaining responsiveness and support. This shoe is a game-changer for my training routine. Highly recommend for serious runners.

Love at first run!

Out the door the shoe was delightful, the EVA foam was present with a bouncy and responsive ride. The upper felt great as if it was an extension of my feet, my one criticism are the laces, but the gusseted tongue had enough padding to provide a good lock down. Really enjoyed running in this shoe, my first run was 10.6 miles on a 30 degree day in nyc occasionally running on wet leaves which was well handled by the waffle grip outsole with no problem. This shoe is a perfect companion to my Nike Alphafly 3.

Zoom fly 5 —> 6 = 🤑

Have been running in the zoom fly 5’as the last two years or so and needed a new pair after putting enough miles on the last ones. The 6’s are a nice upgrade. The tongue and lacing is fixed so I no longer have an issue cutting off blood flow to my foot when I lace up too tight. They also have a little less padding in the heel which works better for me as someone who is more of a forefoot / mid foot striker. If you’ve been a fan of the zoom fly in the past definitely grab this model. Like all Nikes I recommend a size larger than you might otherwise wear in other brands. (I’m more of an 11 but all my Nikes are 12’s)

Get two pair now! Thank me later

I'm loving these shoes! Just gonna say they do run snug, I'm usually 9.5, if I could go back I'd get size 10. Also I love the fact that the tongue is NOT connected to the rest of the shoe like these modern runners, YOU CAN ACTUALLY WEAR THEM LOOSE! 12hr days in the hospital that really really helps! The ZoomX is boingy, and the plate makes every step feel like a spring. Hopefully these will be available in the "design your own" section so I can make a 'Greyed-Out' version.

Magical

This shoe has blown me away, I had Nike Pegasus Runners which were my go to shoe… a fantastic shoe,… But, These Knock them out of the park, they are so comfortable and supportive, giving your run that explosive energy return, I’m training for the London Marathon in April, and I was a little worried about my finishing time,…. Not any more! If your on the fence about getting them, do yourself a favour and order them now, I’m a size 9 and they fit perfectly (true to size)

Better than many of Nike’s recent offerings

I like the shoe, good for medium to medium fast speeds. Too clunky for walking, and again, too cumbersome for faster speeds training on a track/intervals. Have a pair from November 2024 that’s held up just OK with some of the heel padding ripping off on the right shoe. Also, tried to order the Black/Light Smoke color and it did not arrive as described. Showed up in a black and white colorway that is honestly much cheaper looking than the picture online.

Zoom Fly 6!

These just arrived, so only have had them for a few days now and they are noticeably lighter than the Zoom Fly 5. I have had 4 pairs of Zoom Fly 5's and they have been great running shoes. The Zoom Fly 6 feels more stable in stride and when walking, I really like that Nike has reduced the size of the heel from the protruding heel on the Zoom Fly 5, that to me is why the new 6 feels more stable. The appearance of the shoe looks great. The bottom has also been updated, I think the traction is slightly better than the 5 and so far I have not encountered the "suction" noise the 5's had on smooth floors. So far, so good, looking forward to seeing how many miles these can take!
