Great All-Purpose Hoodie
For me, the best sweatshirt hoodie is one that can be worn comfortably in multiple situations. The litmus test is: Do I like wearing it after tennis no matter what the conditions? And: Will it last a long time? My previous three sweatshirts -- purchased at REI, but a different manufacturer -- lasted seven years each. These hoodies (I bought two of these and a similar one with a printed REI logo) seem to be very well made. Other brands were not as well made, or were too bulky, too thin, too polyester, too cotton, or too ugly. These also satisfy the tennis portion of my litmus test. When I am done playing, I like to put on a dry shirt and a hoodie. I want my upper body to stay insulated warm. That's true on 95-degree (35-C) days with windows down, top down, or a/c on; windy 50-degree days (10-C); or during the winter after an indoors match. If it's atrociously hot, I can forego the shirt. If it's atrociously cold, I can add a winter coat. Satisfying this parameter makes confident, I will be comfortable in any situation when I need a little something extra over my shirt regardless if I am active or not. I wash these in cold water and hang dry. They wash very well, and the draw strings don't get lost in the hood.
